Title: That Man (Prologue)
Pairing(s): YooSu
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Angst, Romance, Drama
Summary: when that man smiles he is crying on the inside
Disclaimer: This story would be really angsty, so don't kill me if your sibling, friend or parent suddenly gives you a tissue without you knowing. It'll be fun! I promise. As always, I don't own anything but the plot. I was inspired to write this because of leeteukeunhae who wrote such a wonderful songfic.

One man loves you
That man loves you with all his heart
Everyday like a shadow he follows you around
When that man smiles he is crying on the inside

Everyday is a normal day. Done with daily routines, made with forced and bitter smiles. As usual, he sticks by his side. That man ... he is there again, to make him happy as always. And even though he doesn't notice him at all, he will still continue to love him even though the other loves someone else.

But what if on a certain day, the one he loves accidentally looked at his back, at his sides, and found him? Would everything be like how that man dreamt it to be?

~**~

It was raining. The sky was gray, and rain pelted the ground. It was dark everywhere, excluding those small areas that were lit by street lamps. Nevertheless, it was dim indeed.

There he was, soaked because of the rain and walking yet again from his everyday task which no one had asked him to do. He was by his side again, taking care of him. Park Yoochun … He was always by that lad's side, but why was his presence never noticed?

He walked, and walked until he heard a rustle from behind. He sighed, it was not unexpected, this happened almost everyday.

“Changmin, I know you're there. Get out and just show yourself,” he grunted and sighed. This friend of his had always followed him wherever he went. Maybe because they had known each other since childhood, or maybe because Changmin couldn't take not being able to see him even for a day - not when he was by Yoochun's side, as always.

“You're no fun, Su. Why so grumpy?” Changmin snickered.

The man named Su, sighed. “Why? It's already nighttime, 11 o'clock, can't I be stressed?”

“You're just stressed because you've been with him … that stupid bastard.”

“Stop calling him that,” he retorted. He shot a glare at his disrespectful friend and nudged him not-so-gently at the side.

“Hey! That hurts, Junsu hyung!”

“You started it.”

What if someday the person you dreamt to be close with suddenly talks to you and requests something? What if that request is a confession? What if that request is something that will astonish you to your core? Would you accept it, or would you deny it?

Taking a look back, is it that bad? Observing and caring for your surroundings, would that be a waste of your time? And most especially, wishing eternal happiness for the person you love and treasure with all your heart, must it be dreaded and feared?

Love, something so easy to acquire yet hard to understand. What is its real meaning? How do we define it? Is it when you smile at another person? Or is it when you share shy glances at each other?

There are a lot of hypotheses and theories about this unexplainable feeling, but no one is really sure.

People might have different definitions about it, but this man in this story tells about his own definition of true love - giving up your own happiness just to see the person you truly cherish the most smile from the bottom of his heart.

No, it isn't masochism nor being a martyr. Simply, it's loving unconditionally. Like how God gave his only son to die on the cross for His people's sake. Love … Love for eternity … Love that causes both pain and happiness … Unconditional love.

How about you? Would you be able to deal with it like how that man did?
