You know how when you are away from your daily routine, you start making grand plans about what you are going to do different when you get back, and it seems so easy to change it. I decided to learn french, eat more pulses and beans, generally do more each day, cook for my parents more, go out more. Right now I'm moping around the house stuffing my face with Caramac Kit Kats. They do taste lovely though. They have an almost marzipan flavour.
Anyway, I figure rome was in fact, not built in a day. Or even a week.
I love my accordion. Watch out for it at a gig near you. On thurs actually, I'm playing keyboard/accordion for my friend Nicky Cairney at The Malt Mill. She is doing a set of her songs - she has some lovely ones and such a beautiful voice. She can do the clever changing from soft to hard voice, and sing high and sweet and move around the notes gracefully, and sound like a little girl all at the same time. I am looking forward to playing for her, we have reworked some of the songs so its a really intimate kind of thing. Delight.
If any one can speak french and wants to swap french lessons for piano lessons, let me know.
I am writing new songs at the moment. One features me playing accordion and piano simultaneosly *gasp* its about an internet overseas love affair.
I am also working on a song about worrying about driving over small childrens feet cause they teeter so close to the edge of the crossings etc.
And lastly, a recipe.
Carrot and ginger and honey soup.
Actually the recipe is in the title really. Except me and Sheena also added a parsnip, and an onion. BUt it really is quite a delightful combination. Careful not to put too much honey in.
Peace.
