Summary: Sometimes we think that letting someone go is the most selfless decision that one can ever make. Especially in a situation where no one can help you except for yourself. But what if you came back and found out that the love of your life didn't just change in the way you've expected him to but also is in a more messed up situation.
‘’Kristopher Allen?’’ The lady asks but her feature stays neutral without revealing any emotions.
Kris nods glancing at Adam again who looks at the floor obviously in a deep thinking state.
‘’I’m Jordan Curtis, a social worker, I’m here to tell you that I’m taking your case and I already found a shelter for you to stay in until your dad is well enough to take care of you. What do you say, Kris?’’
Adam stands up but Jordan locks eyes with him with eyebrow slightly arched up as if daring him to say more.
Kris doesn’t say anything. He just looks down at his hands and innocently bites his lips. Adam feels something punches his gut knowing what’s going on in Kris’ head. He also feels his heart clench as he knows exactly what Kris’ answer would be. He knows Kris wouldn’t even try to argue.
But can he argue for Kris’ sake? Does his opinion even matter? Does Kris even want to hear his opinion? Does he even care when he already resigned to the idea of a certain woman who he never met before?
Has Kris ever argued for anything in the past? Does he even know when to say yes or no?
Adam doesn’t know what to do he doesn’t know what to say. But one thing he knows for sure he cannot just let Kris take anything that other people tell him to do-what they want him to do. He needs him to start to standing up for himself-take responsibility for his decision-to start making his own decision without the influence of other people. But Adam doesn’t know how-doesn’t know where to start.
But who cares. He can’t just let him go to a shelter when he can just stay with them.
‘’No, he’s going to stay with me. I mean at my parent’s house. He can stay with us as long as he-‘’
‘’I’m afraid I can’t do that. It’s the law and we can’t break it. So, Kris shall we?’’
Kris looks at Adam and Adam wants to shout and hug him at the same time. But he knows he can’t do anything especially if Kris wouldn’t disagree with it. He doesn’t think Kris agrees with what Jordan was saying either he is just thinking that because she said it is the best for him and what the law says for a case like this Kris wouldn’t think otherwise.
Adam cringes at the thought and steps closer to Kris. He’s about to say something to try to change Kris’ mind when his parents and Neil came into the room.
Leila walks to Kris immediately hugging him and notices the tension before they even came inside. She asks what’s going on when Jordan answers her and explains everything.
His father, bless his heart, asks her to just wait even after the operation is over before talking about moving Kris to a shelter.
‘’You didn’t even asked the kid if he wants to go. Because we can take care of him, he’s our son’s best friend and he’s family to us.’’ Eber said which makes Kris looks up at him in surprise. Adam just knows what’s going on in Kris’ mind at that moment.
Jordan thinks about it for few seconds and reluctantly nods but she says, ‘’I’m not so sure about you taking care of him, but yeah, I will come back tomorrow to talk to Kris about this again.’’
Adam sits and lets out a breath of relief that he doesn’t know he’s holding. He doesn’t know why but he certainly feels protective of Kris all of a sudden. He kind of resented him a little when he did nothing before but put Neil in trouble but ever since he saw him with his father on their front yard, he just can’t stop thinking about how to protect him.
He looks at Kris who is now sitting in between his mom and brother. He is nodding with whatever his mom was saying but he knows it’s really a long over hauling on Kris’ part of perceiving and views to see life differently than what he is used to growing up.
One hour after Dr. Weber comes back telling them that Kris’ dad is out of OR and will be transferred to ICU after few more moments. He says Kris is the only one allowed to visit and it would only be for few minutes. He also said that the next 24 hours is critical.
After he visited his father who he cannot even look at for long in his current state without having flashbacks about his mother Kris leaves out the room even before his time is up.
He nods when Leila said that he should take a rest and they will just be back the next day. Adam doesn’t have issue with Kris going home with them, if he’s being honest, that’s what he wants to. Better than in those shelter for the boys when he doesn’t know anyone. His only problem is, Kris is just saying yes to anyone who thinks what’s best for him it’s like he doesn’t know how to think for himself-what he really likes. He’s so concern that Kris would be handled by the wrong person. The poor kid doesn’t even know that he’s dooming himself.
The next day, the doctor had good news for them when they arrived at the hospital. His dad was out of the coma and had been awake for a couple of hours now. There are still numerous tubes attached to his body but when Kris comes inside his eyes are open. He’s obviously still too weak to speak or show some emotions but his dad is already awake and is looking at him.
He doesn’t stay for so long. He just greeted him and told him he was fine and that he wishes for his fast recovery. He kisses his dad on his forehead and goes out of the room again. But when he’s about to enter the waiting room, he heard Leila and Jordan arguing about him.
Jordan is telling her that they are not Kris’ next of kin and therefore not allowed to keep Kris. Leila argued that yes he is not blood related to them but they love him like a family. That Kris needs them now, needs to be around the people who love him, who can take care of him-not to just throw him somewhere and be left alone just because the law says so.
‘’He’s just a kid, for god sake!’’ She says hysterically.
Kris can’t move from where he’s standing. He’s so overwhelmed on how the Lambert’s makes him feel like he is one of their own. He almost forgot how to feel like he belongs to a family.
He’s still rooted in his spot just outside the waiting room door when Adam suddenly gets up and moving from it. He stops in his tracks upon seeing him but walks up and stops in front of him. They just stand there for quite some time until Adam clears his throat and Kris looks up hesitantly.
‘’Kris, uh, I need to ask you something.’’
‘’O-okay’’ He answers softly.
‘’I need to know if you agree with Jordan.’’ Adam asks him holding his gaze which suddenly makes Kris’ stomach flutters.
‘’She said I should-‘’
‘’But is that what you really want or is that what you think you should do because Jordan said so?’’
Kris looks up at him then starts fidgeting with his hands. Adam reaches out to hold them.
‘’Kris, I think you should tell Jordan what you really want.’’
Kris stares at their intertwined hands and after a few moments he nods and slowly walks into the room. Adam doesn’t follow him inside but stays where he still can hear what they would be talking about.
The room becomes suddenly quiet as he enters and Adam leans on the wall and closes his eyes waiting for the conversation to start again.
‘’I-I want to stay with the Lamberts.’’ Adam faintly hears Kris’ voice. He heard his mom gasp and starts telling Jordan that they can apply to be a foster family or something if it’s needed just for Kris to stay with them.
Jordan gets quiet but agrees after sometime after she makes sure The Lamberts will do all the legal papers for being Kris’ foster family. But Jordan says the arrangement can be cancelled whenever Kris’ dad will be fit to take care of Kris again. The Lambert easily agrees on that one. Well, except for Adam, but nobody knows about it as he keeps quiet in a corner.
That night Adam drives Kris to his house to get some of his important things that he needed, but when they arrive the house Adam gets some flash backs from that night he saw how Kris’ dad treated him. He suddenly glances to where Kris was sitting and feels honestly grateful that he’s away from that situation even if just temporarily. Now he just has to think how to get him out from it permanently.
Kris’ life almost goes back to normal after one week except that his father is still in ICU. He’s improving a bit but the extent of his injuries to his spine left him paralyzed. The doctors said that it can be treated with rehabilitation but it can take years to do so.
After few days more Kris feels like he’s belong to the Lamberts already, Leila and Eber are nothing but supportive and caring. They treat him like their 3rd child. Leila brought him to do some shopping after couple of days living with them. She took him to lunch to just talk. Kris wasn’t used of doing it and felt ashamed at first but Leila just told him that it’s okay and they needed to spend some time just the two of them-that’s what mother and son’s do. Kris cried that night. He didn’t know why but he really missed his mom.
He’s not riding the bus anymore because Leila and Neil say it’s better for all of them to just go with Adam. He doesn’t resist instead he just does whatever he was told to. He notices Adam is quiet most of the time when he’s around. He thinks Adam might not like him riding with them or he is just really like this. But knowing how talkative Adam is he’s sure it’s the former rather than the latter.
Though he doesn’t really downright ignore him but Kris tries to not bump into Adam as much as he can while in school or even in the house. He just doesn’t like the way his stomach flutters with just a glance at Adam. And his European boyfriend is also everywhere. He’s almost like a shadow of Adam.
But honestly they are just everywhere-in school, at the house-and he feels uncomfortable around Sauli especially after one time he caught him whispering to his other friend in lunch as he passed by their table with his tray. They were at their usual table, but without Adam. And they both laughed looking him up and down then snorted loudly.
Kris scrambles to get away from them but unfortunately gets tripped when his usual bully, Kian, the star soccer player extends his legs out from his seat which makes Kris stumble down. Everyone who witnessed his clumsiness is laughing and his food spills from the tray.
‘’Loser!’’ Kian laughs while looking down at him. Kris doesn’t mind them instead he looks around the floor to find his glasses. ‘’Looking for this, Allen?’’
Kris looks up to find his glasses hangs precariously in between Kian’s fingers. He stands to grab it but Kian extends his arm so the glasses are out of Kris’ reach. He almost face planted on the table reaching for his glasses. The whole cafeteria’s attention is already focused on them and laughing. Kris resented the fact that he came to lunch alone Neil is skipping it to finish his science project with his partner.
He was just resigned to the fact of leaving his glasses with Kian and collects his bag from the floor when he sees Adam out of nowhere grabbing the glasses from Kian’s hand leaving him mouth hung open, obviously surprise.
‘’Got a problem, Moore?’’ he sternly asks looking him down square in the eyes. Kian shakes his head and looks down at his food. ‘’And mind your own business next time. I don’t want to see you near Kris again, understood?’’
Kian drops his utensils and stands nose to nose with Adam.
‘’Or else what, Lambert?’’ he asks narrowing his eyes fisting his hands.
The whole cafeteria is so quiet you can hear a pin drop from the silence.
‘’You might not like it, I tell yah.’’ He whispers burning his gaze on him making sure his message is being understood. Then they had a staring contest of who will look away first and neither one does. Until a hand grips on Kian’s shoulder urging him to sit back down and he does sending Adam then Kris a death glare.
Adam moves to Kris’ side where he was frozen while he had heated words with Kian. Adam asks him if he’s okay and Kris only nods but Adam notices his hands are shaking and he reaches out to hold them.
‘’Hey, hey, it’s okay. Kris, look at me, baby… yeah, it’s all right. We’re going out to breathe some fresh air. Is that okay with you?’’ Adam asks not taking his eyes off of Kris. Stating his message as this is Kris’ decision. Kris nods reluctantly and Adam leads him outside the cafeteria with his hand on the small of his back oblivious of anything else around them.
After that day Kris is being left alone by his bullies. He always get the same facial mock greetings he receives everyday but he notices their faces turn to grimace or trying to act nonchalantly as their gazes turn to Adam who happens to be just everywhere within 20 feet away from him and Neil. Kris remembers how Adam used to follow them before trying to keep an eye on his brother. But now Kris likes to think that it’s because of him.
He snorts and mentally whacks his head at the idea his mind trying to create. It’s just funny to think that the likes of Adam would want someone like him. That is just out of this world fantasy especially when the said Prince charming has the love of his life already and seems so smitten with him.
One breezy midnight in early March he wakes up with a start from a dream that he can’t even remember. His heart is pounding and he’s sweating like he just ran for a marathon. He goes down to the kitchen and drinks some water to ease down the tension that starts to form in his body when he hears someone is opening their main door. He’s alerted by it and scans the room for something that could knock the intruder out.
He hides in a dark spot in the kitchen door trying to get a good look at who’s the intruder or intruders are. But because he’s in the kitchen he can’t see them until they will walk from the foyer to the hallway leading to the living room and dining room.
He positions an umbrella ready to strike whoever the intruder is when he hears soft giggles and a sound of hushing the other to stop making sounds. Kris tried to make out whose voices he is hearing but suddenly everything becomes clear when he spots a body of figures that were wrapped around each other, kissing, groping and dry humping at the end of the hallway.
Kris feels something hot has start to grow in his lower belly. He feels so flush and embarrassed by sneaking a peek in on someone else’s private moment but he can’t turn his eyes away either. He watches as Adam lift one of Sauli’s thighs up to his arm while Sauli continues to grind his groin on Adam’s bulging one while sucking the smaller man’s neck. Sauli lets out a moan and Adam hushes him again by kissing him hard on the mouth.
He watches as Adam licks his middle and index fingers then slide it inside the back of Sauli’s now loose jeans which makes him squirm and arch at the touch. Kris feels his whole body was flushing and his ears are ringing. He looks down at his pajama bottoms and can clearly see the bulge growing.
He looks up again at the couple when he heard Sauli in his pleading debauched voice begging ‘’Adam, a-another finger, please. Oh god, I’m so close. Yeah, t-that’s it. Oh, god, I love it.’’
Adam seems to give whatever Sauli asked him to do and Sauli humps frantically until he can’t bear it and brings his hand and bites the side of it to stop himself from screaming while Adam seems to move faster too and bites at Sauli’s shoulder until the both of them weakly lean on the wall and give each other few sweet pecks on the lips and start to giggle again-that is mostly Sauli actually, he thought, because Adam is leaning his head up to the ceiling like he’s thinking about something other than the hot sex that they just had.
‘’Well, that was one hell of a make-up sex session.’’ Sauli whispers. Adam chuckles and doesn’t say anything then he straightens his body and walks to the backdoor leading to the swimming pool and said,
‘’C’mon, let’s swim.’’
Kris waits for few more minutes just to make sure they won’t be coming back in. He runs quietly up to his room and stands at the back of the door rubbing his chest gently trying to calm down his pounding chest. A cold sweat breaks out from his forehead.
He looks down at his bottoms and can still clearly see the dent. He experimentally rubs his hand on his bulging cock and moans at the unfamiliar sensation. He walks across his room to the window and peeks down at the pool. He sees Sauli coming from behind and hugs Adam who turns around to face his boyfriend. Sauli dives in to kiss Adam’s lips who welcomes it with equal enthusiasm.
He can clearly see by the clear water that Sauli’s hand is in Adam’s boxers. Kris feels hotter and closes his eyes as he slides his trembling hand in his bottoms. It is weird at first but his urge wins out and he tries to jerk himself. He feels he needs to have a release to keep him sane because he feels he’s going crazy at any moment now. He doesn’t know what he’s doing and certainly it‘s the first time he touches himself but the image of Adam kissing, humping and moaning keeps on repeating at the back of his eyes.
He leans his back at the wall and continues to jerk until he feels something unexplainable pressure building at his groin that makes his head dizzy. His eyes roll as his orgasm hits him spurting messily into his hand and onto the floor.
He slumps down to the floor looking at his cum coating his hand and a small puddle that he can make out from his dark room on the hardwood floor in front of him. He chuckles softly shaking his head at the craziness of his first experience of jerking himself off.
He yanks his shirt off his body and cleans his hands and wipes the cum up off the floor. Then he stands up and pulls up his bottoms and lies down on his bed suddenly feeling so exhausted then his guilt starts to creep out thinking about how he intruded someone else’s private moment. He knows he shouldn’t have done that and he shouldn’t jerk off thinking about Adam. That is just disrespectful to Adam and Sauli but before he can even dwell on his guilt sleep claims him and he’s out in a minute.
