Jack figured he probably looked horrible, he wasn't quite sure himself as he wasn't in possession of a mirror but the tone of the Doctor's voice (both of them) suggested as much.
He knew what either or both were thinking.
They had to set him right.
It was the only way.
"Do it."
"I can't."
"Please."
He didn't often beg, but right now he would get down on his knees and beg if he wasn't tied up like this.
"Please. It's the only way and you know it."
It came quick, the darkness, the familiar sensation of his body jerking before finally shutting down. The darkness was almost comforting, almost, until he woke up again his body arching all over and vision unfocused, he felt around only to roll off the bed and onto the floor only adding to his list of aches and pains.
But he was home, safe, sound, alive and well. And clothed. Yet the great coat was missing. Jack laid there for a bit, eventually his eyes focused and the pain dulled down from a burning forest fire to simmering burn. Aftershock was always a bitch.
"Good morning."
And then he smiled a broken smile.
