Selling Dresses!

Jul 23, 2009 23:53

I would rather these dresses end up in the hands of friends than strangers, so before I can list them on Etsy or eBay, I would like to give my friends a chance. If you know other trustworthy people, please send along a message and help spread the word. I really, really, really need money!

I must repeat no exceptions, refunds or exchanges on anything listed here. These are from my personal collection, which means they have all been made according to my measurements. If you really want something but can't quite make the cost, talk to me, and we might be able to negotiate something--but also keep in mind that I desperately need money, and while I want my dearly beloved costumes to go to good homes, they were a lot of work, heart and soul, and I wouldn't be selling them if I didn't need the money. The one dress I WILL NOT negotiate on is the Galadriel-inspired one. The outer fabric alone cost $40 per yard, and to charge anything less than what I am charging would be insane, given how much work went into that. OK, enough babble. Here are some more details on the gowns up for sale.

Galadriel-inspired Gown, $350

A stunning, white, beaded gown that could be used for faires, conventions or even weddings!

This is a long, heavy white lace gown beaded with clear sequins, with trumpet sleeves and back zipper; the body of dress is lined in white polyester crepe. The neckline is accented with two rows of mini-pearls. Dress includes a brooch (though I highly recommend getting Galadriel’s brooch from the Nobel Collection) made of a sea shell and silver wire/cardboard detailing, and the belt, which is a cream satin, hand-beaded with pearls and sequins. The belt laces up in back with a white satin ribbon. The dress was made to fit me, so it comfortably fits the measurements of 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”, but wearing 2.5 inch platforms for the pictures. Dress is sold as-is-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the gown. Worn only for pictures.

White Elven Princess Gown, $150

A wonderfully romantic gown suitable for faires and weddings!

This is a white-on-white light jacquard fabric with white chiffon sleeves and a detachable white chiffon cape (attaches with Velcro squares at the shoulders). It is an empire-waist gown and zips up the back. The bodice also has pearls stitched onto it, and the bodice ONLY is lined. The dress was made to fit me, so it comfortably fits the measurements of 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”, and wearing flats in these pictures. Given the style, there may be some lee-way with the waist and hips measurements. Dress is sold as-is-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the gown. Worn only for pictures.

Eowyn-inspired Vest and Corset, $100

A perfect start for any Shieldmaiden! Great for faires and conventions!

Dress is NOT included. This is a heavy brown velvet vest and corset. The vest zips up the side, and the corset laces up the back, as can be seen in the pictures. The corset has some stitch-work resembling quilting, and is lightly boned. All of the gold detailing is hand-painted. These items were made to fit me, so it comfortably fits the measurements of 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”, and wearing flats in these pictures. There is some lee-way with measurements, as the corset is adjustable, and the vest has about an inch or two of bagginess. Vest and corset are sold as-they-are-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the items. Worn to one event, and for pictures.

Arwen-inspired Goddess Gown, $175

A divine and flowing gown fit for the halls of Zeus! Suitable for faires, conventions and other special events!

This is a lilac, lined, chiffon dress in the style of a Greek chiton. It zips up the back (the back drape covers the zipper). It has side slits, a draped neckline and triangular drapes on each side. This gown was inspired by Arwen’s lavender dream gown in the Lord of the Rings movies. The dress fits me rather snugly, and my measurements are: 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”, and wearing flats in these pictures. I highly recommend that you do not buy this dress unless you are my measurements or smaller-there is no give to this gown. Dress is sold as-is-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the gown. Worn for a one-time performance of the song “May It Be,” and for pictures.

Sabe Decoy (Star Wars, Episode I), $125

If you are looking for a good piece to start with for a female Star Wars costume, this could have you well on your way! Great for conventions!

Includes the dress, tabards and belt ONLY. I started this gown a while ago, and have not had the gumption to finish it. It is an orange/red iridescent satin gown (front closes with Velcro) with a circle skirt and bell sleeves. The bell sleeves are made of a corded black velvet, hand-painted with red stripes. The tabards are made of this same fabric. The belt is a black faux leather, and closes in the back with Velcro. I recommend getting a new belt if you are planning to wear/work on this, as the faux leather has over time acquired a sort of sticky texture. The outfit was made to fit me, so it comfortably fits the measurements of 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”. Outfit is sold as-is-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the gown. Worn for one event, and pictures.

Classic “Showgirl,” $125

An evening gown fit for any sultry performance; great for a night-out on the town or a big premiere on-stage!

This is a red panne velvet gown with black marabou feather trim. The dress features a slit for the left leg and an inset, godet-style train. Neckline can be worn on-the-shoulders, or off-the-shoulders. The dress was made to fit me, so it comfortably fits the measurements of 34 inch bust, 27 inch waist and 34 inch hips. I am 5’2”. Given the style, there may be some lee-way with the measurements, because it is a stretch-fabric. Dress is sold as-is-no exceptions, refunds or exchanges. I live in a smoke-free environment, and do own animals, though they have not had interaction with the gown. Worn only for pictures.
