on some level I still hate BioWare so much
Dear BioWare,
I didn't think it was possible but somehow between Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 your writing has gotten EVEN LAZIER. What with your removing neutral conversation options completely and the fact that for some reason paragon interactions always = BLATANT FLIRTING. Yes, it's swell and totally inclusive that you added gay relationships. But okay a) you're two games too late because as far as I'm concerned just throwing it in at the end fucks up character development. And b) your idea of writing gay romance options continues to just mean "EVERYONE IS BI!" which does not quite equal gay. I'm sorry. And I find it kind of offensive that my FemShep, while just picking paragon conversation options and trying to be nice, immediately comes off like she is flirting with the gay shuttle pilot who is clearly STILL MOURNING HIS DEAD HUSBAND. Seriously. There is just so much inappropriate there because you guys are fucking lazy hacks. Extra inappropriateness added with the fact that my FemShep is in a relationship with Garrus and would like to remain that way and be faithful and NOT FLIRT WITH EVERY FUCKING PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE.
That's not to say it's all bad. Little tiny side bits of character interaction are great. It's just the big things that make me want to beat whoever wrote this crap to death with a large pointed stick. I mean really. It's obvious you guys just want to make a dating sim. Just release one of those so I can avoid it like the plague and don't have to play it. I just want to finish this story, not have to look at every conversation option wondering if my FemShep is going to come off sounding like she wants everyone's dick in her.
I hate lazy writing. It makes me want to strangle things. Seriously. Fuck you, BioWare. Your writers suck. Or they half suck. It would suck less if you quit trying to shoehorn romance into everything and just let me play a story about fighting things in space. Which, you know, was what I thought I was buying.
tl;dr: inclusiveness in games is not bad. BioWare just sucks at it and then proceeds to walk around acting like they deserve an award for it. And that just irks me. (do you know how hard it is to play an asexual Sheppard? With the way ME3 is looking, it's starting to seem impossible. And that irritates me most of all)
