Pop!

Hoo boy am I tired!  Working nights evidently takes it's toll on you.  There actually were two days last week where I just came home, slept, and then woke up, ate, and went to work!  It felt a bit... strange!  But who cares, yeah?  I think I'll stop work at the end of my contract, just to prove to myself I can make it that far at least!

So a couple of friends I haven't seen in a long, long, long time decided to get married last weekend!  It's like, you lose contact for ages, then suddenly you get a call inviting you to a wedding!  Also, another mutual friend who lives in Singapore came down for their wedding as well.  I wasn't free every day but I did manage to take him around on Saturday.  But where do you take a Singaporean in Malaysia anyway?  I wasn't sure, but the friend that was getting married said take him around KL, so yeah, we wen't to KLCC and then down to Bukit Bintang, but there wasn't really much for him to see there.  Fortunately, Chinatown (Petaling Street) seemed to hold some interest for him as he managed to find some stuff (DORAMA) to look at while over there.  Strangely, I never realised that not all that many shops sell Jap dramas over here.

So right, the wedding was great!  Traditional Chinese one, except the bride and groom wore modern church wedding clothing instead of the traditional Chinese ones.  But everything else seemed to go more or less according to tradition (hey, I'm no expert) XD.  Yup, the groom and entourage invaded the bride's house in the early morning and had to battle the "gatekeepers" in order to claim the bride and spirit her off to live happily ever after in the groom's castle.  Ok ok... what really happens is the groom comes to the bride's house with a bunch of cars and they blare their horns, only to be greeted at the gates by some women (normally friends of the bride) who set a series of challenges for the groom to overcome.  These days, it's normally something silly like eating wasabi or wearing ridiculous articles of clothing.

After claiming the bride, the couple have to serve tea to all the elders at the house and all the youngster's at the house get to serve the couple tea and claim an ang pow (red packet) as a reward.  Of course, this only applies to family members and friends are excluded from this part of the ceremony! :)  Anyways, the couple goes back to the groom's house and does the same thing over there for the groom's side of the family!  Of course, there are also some rituals that have to be performed, but I'll be damned if I can remember exactly what they are.

Progressing on, there'll be a dinner at the end of day.  And this time it was REALLY MASSIVE.  Like almost 50 tables, I was seriously baffeled by how they managed to spot for so many tables!  And... the food was actually really good this time.  Man, normally restaurants tend to fail at one or two dishes, but this one seemed to pull it off quite spectacularly.  Although, the Chinese lady MC for the night was kinda... overenthusiastic.

Moving on!  When I was out with my friend, I came across a copy of moyashimon at anime-tech!  Normally, I don't buy anime, seeing as how I can dl it, and the DVDs normally have crappier quality.  But moyashimon might be a bit hard to come by and it was only going for RM9!!!  So yeah, it works, it has poor (but not abysmal) english subtitles, not very good quality visuals, but who cares!  Haven't been watching it much, though.  I'll keep watching it throughout the week.
[In case anyone is wondering, these DVDs source the anime from the same RAWs the subbers use, and reencoding it into MPEG2 format for DVD reduces the quality]

I managed to sort out this massive backlog of Jpop on my HD today, *phew* I think I added around 80 songs or something. O__o  I've got heaps more catching up to do, though!  Like... 3 months worth!  I think this is going to take a while.  No really outstanding songs yet, although there hasn't been any terrible ones. :D

I think that's it for now!  I need to catch up on some sleep soon for tonight.  @__@  I always find it strange that I sleep normally on Weekends even though I have to sleep at odd hours for weekdays.  Oh well!  Hope everyone's having a good life!  Can't wait to meet people again.
