I have to wear glasses so that I can read
they're ugly and lie at the bottom of my bag
I also forget things easily
so I don't wear my glasses

My room is a mess
my mother has said a whirlwind has invaded it
but it’s just that I’m lazy
so I don’t pick up my clothes

My socks all have holes in them
‘cause my feet are too big and my shoes too small
I don’t want to throw away money at new shoes
so I wear mismatched socks

I also bite my nails
it’s not that I’m nervous or anything
I’m just bored
so I have no womanly nails

I never hear my mother shout
too stuck in another world to care
loving it there
so I never shout back
