im finally back home after five days of complete nightmare and anguish.

on thursday morning, my body showed slight signs of fatigue and sluggishness that were soon ignored by my demanding schedule. that particular day's agenda went from northwestern luncheon to coffee time with beth, from submotive & beatniks show to camping trip to fort flagler with the g-time crew. as much as i looked forward to these events, i couldnt make myself to head out the door when the comfort of my bed continued to beckon me. so i laid back down and the next moment i opened my eyes, the hour-hand of my watch was pointing at four or five and my vision was quite blurred by some unknown screen. then, when i attempted to call my parents, my throat throbbed and not even a whisper escaped my mouth. sigh* after knocking on my wall for two minutes or so, my parents, who thought i was merely taking a peaceful nap, stormed into my room and, upon touching my body once or twice, began to panic. ever since nineteen years ago, miss esther lee was the weakling of the lee family as i slowly but undeniably underwent various illnesses - fever, chickenpox, measles, swollen tonsil, cold, etc. - several times a year. this time, however, despite their awareness of my vulnerability, they were shocked to find out that my temperature shot over 106 degrees fahrenheit. normally, when one's body temp. goes beyond 105, the uncontrollable rise of temperature can not only cause brain damage but also loss of hearing/sight and, once it reaches near 110, a sudden death. scary, eh? yeah. hmmm. so. for countless hours, my entire family became a rescue team as my siblings delivered icy cold towels to my room so that my parents could wipe my entire body (and especially my forehead) with them in order to abate such high temperature. yet, their time and effort went down the drain and i cried my eyes out from excruciating pain i could not possibly describe. man. ive been sick a lot but really. past few nights' pain was intolerable. yuck. in my record of "history of esther's illnesses", this one left a mark as the first time i couldnt SLEEP at all due to pain. my favorite pasttime! anyway : ) so i took antifebrile along with antibiotics that ultimately caused more tears to come as the pills could not pass my swollen tonsil and, to make matters worse, got stuck in the airway. whew. nightmare, i say. after staying up all night, crying and letting out silent yells, my parents took me to the emergency room as i felt like i was gonna die, literally. : ( as soon as we reached the hospital, the doctor informed us that i had the worst case of tonsillitis that almost entirely blocked my esophagus. he also told us that my swollen tonsil was filled with pus that managed to spread all over inner ears. no wonder my ears hurt so awfully whenever i even tried to swallow water with my pills. : p but the most pending problem was that pus had traveled to my abscess, which could potentially cause brain damage. darn. so we had a cat scan taken and went through surgical procedures to remove that. whew. to make this grossly long story a little shorter, i remained in the hospital for 2-3 more days and was discharged this morning to return home sweet home. : ) as i realize this every time i go through an illness, im an incredibly blessed individual with loving and caring parents and siblings. especially this time, i witnessed tears rolling down my parents eyes when i cried while being examined by the doctor (when he told me to open my mouth i thought i was going to faint!). what can i do without them. really. sigh* nothing can fully describe my gratitude and love for them. also, thanks to those who left me messages such as "its well past friday the 15th, change your darn voicemail message!" to "lets hang out! why dont you pick up your calls!". their yellings were very much appreciated since they probably had no idea that i was stuck in a hospital for several days. i was glad to see 68 missed calls. : )

anyway. after that long tale of mine, im home with my family once again. : ) im still unable to talk nor swallow my own spit for my own good + im also on countless medications such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory & anesthetic pills, antifebrile, tons of painkillers, etc. but, despite the fact that im not fully rejuvenated, i can actually sit and stare at a screen for an hour at the most and thats revolutionary! hehe. my painkiller is making me uber drowsy though so im gonna head to bed now. my apologies to those who were supposed to have an appointment with me. maybe we can reschedule for the week after next week? i will be resting in my bed for several days so hope to see you soon! : )

p.s. i couldnt eat or for heavens sake drink anything for several days. an icream maniac as myself has turned into an ice cream dreader! how tragic! the doctor recommended that i eat lots of ice cream as it would help cure my swollen tonsil but i just couldnt! : ( so all the ice cream my parents bought are sitting in my freezer, just waiting for me to finish them off only when i get better. lets have an ice cream party when i fully recover! : )
