THANK GOD BONNIE'S NOT DEAD. I WAS PREPARING TO MARCH OVER HERE FULL OF ANGER AND INDIGNATION, and then it turned out she was okay. THANK GOODNESS. Also, I am so Team Bonnie/Damon!!!! I wish they'd hook up already, because they're HOT together. Poor Jeremy.
OTOH, I must say to Damon: well-played, sir. First, his little exchange with Stefan - "at the end of the day, I'll be the one to keep her alive." You could see just how hard that hit Stefan, and I wonder if we'll see him a little more ruthless in days to come. It was also a nice little nugget of character exposition, as it makes clear just how much Damon wants to be the Good Guy. And not just good, but the ONLY Good Guy. And how much he defines that in relation to his brother. And just how much he wants to be for Elena what Stefan is for her now.
Yeah. It was a good line. THEN he had his little scene with Elena, which was like... well, duh, I should've known THAT'S what he was going for, and not the exchange with Stefan. Had Elena crawling to his bedroom, apologizing, for pity's sake, plus he got to make another declaration of love that, again, really hit home. Well-played, indeed.
What else? Ohhh, Caroline and whatshisface. And HER MOM. :-( It's funny how much her mom seems to be operating on a smaller scale, you know? We've got the Big Bad to end all Big Bads in Klaus, and then we've got the Sheriff who is worried that she can't trust anyone. And yet... I suspect she's going to cause a whole lotta hurting. Which is a shame. Because I'd really much rather see the Sheriff and Matt come around to be on our side. I think. I mean, I feel that emotionally, but at the same time I think it serves a really good purpose to have regular humans who are NOT on our side. I'm interested in where that's going.
Oh, and lastly, that product placement was just disgusting. You know the one I'm talking about, because it was so grossly blatant. Ew. Where the hell was Bonnie, anyway?
