One day watching the news.
"the hurricane has escalated to a category 5!" as i hear from the distant but loud t.v.
few hours later, "hurricane katrina has downgraded to a category 4, with maximum sustained winds at 140 m.p.h." this time the news caster says with a bit of relief in his voice.
There are no words to say as i, along with the rest of the country and even the rest of the world witness the utmost devastion that has hit the south.
My hometown. My homestate, is completely unederwater. The once infamous French Quarter is all that remains. But does it really? With its incompetent looters raiding the city with no feeling.
80% of this city is underwater. Keep in mind that over a million people live in New Orleans alone.
The once infamous city with its diversity in culture and its small but at the same time large influence of french culture roaming the entireity of the city is now...
gone.
Who is to blame? the engineers that did not do well at constructing the levy's that could have protected the city? Mother Nature?
that is the question that some newscasters and people are asking.
So, who is to blame. How can someone put this mass amount of devastion in the hands of one individual.
Was is it karma?
no one will ever no.
but the best that we can do is pray and try to dedicate a moment in our lives to remember the devastation that has hit
this wonderful city,
this wonderful city of abundance and livelihood,
this wonderful city with its moneumental french structures,
this wonderful city where millions of americans go to witness the beautiful music that radiates from the streets at every corner.
this wonderful city that is no more.
take care new orleans..
the one question that i want to ask,
will you be back in years to come to give americans and the world that richness in culture that you once did?
someday
much love,
