Now did they REALLY poll my family and friends?

Now this is just plain funny...

About three months ago, my father bought my sister a subscription to one of those trendy cooking magazines for her birthday. My sister loves to cook, enjoys putting together tasty and visually appealing meals for the family. It's her thang, so it was the perfect gift for her.

When he subscribed, it was "buy one, get one free", so he could have a second subscription for nothing - but, rather than saying "okay, send it to me" (cause he likes to cook too!), his first thought was "send it to Kathie".

We all kind of chuckled about the choice because I have absolutely zero interest (or talent) in the culinary department. I never really "learned" to cook and honestly, I never had an interest in doing it. There was a time, when The Divine Miss was about 1 or 1 1/2 that I did try to do the domestic thing, making meals that were subsequently thrown out because she wouldn't touch "real food". So, I gave up... Her tastes haven't changed, she's strictly a 'fruits and veggie" kinda kid and I'm happy with a bowl of cereal for dinner. Dave doesn't understand the whole "this woman can't cook" thing because he's always had women around who loved donning the apron and whisking up dinner while singing. I ain't that chick - never have been and probably won't ever be. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to make him dinner, I just don't relish the experience - to me it's just another thing to add to my "to do" list and there are nights when I would rather not "do" it because of cheerleading, CCD, special chorus, blah blah blah....

So enough of the background...

Ever since I started receiving this magazine, I've been deluged with other "cooking type" junk snail mail. I trash most of it, but for some reason, I opened one piece of it today...

And, much to my surprise, I've been nominated to become an official member of the Cooking Club of America" ....

blah blah blah about the club ... yada yada yada...

But the bestest part...

"Why have YOU been nominated?" they ask? This should be good

"Well, it's no secret among your friends and family that you are an OUTSTANDING COOK. As someone who has a passion for creating great food, you're EXACTLY the kind of person we want nominated to our club".

The Divine Miss and I roared over this one as she made her own box of Kraft Mac and Cheese for dinner tonight. Dessert will be smores. I guess burning marshmellows makes me an OUTSTANDING COOK.

Best laugh I've had in a week. I honestly can't wait to show Dave.
