I was just watching MSNBC and someone was on saying that oil prices are going to double within the next three years. Where it is now $140.00 per barrel, they're speculating that it will reach $300.00 a barrel before it "levels off".
I don't know about the rest of you, but $4.00 a gallon is putting a serious hurt on my wallet. At $8.00 a gallon, there's no way I could keep doing the job I'm doing. Yeah, I get paid mileage, but 44.5 cents a mile - it used to cover gas AND wear/tear and maintenance. Now it's only covering gas, and just barely at that. This week alone, I put over 700 miles on the car for work, NOT including my daily commute (cause I can't bill for that!).
Where is this money supposed to be coming from? Only a very few can afford NOT to work and "mass transit" around these parts is virtually non-existant, unless you live or work in one of the urban centers. There is no bus that goes from my general vicinity to where I work.
Very scary indeed. It makes me wonder how people who are working minimum wage jobs are getting by. My food budget it hurting because of gas prices, but I had a little "slack" there in the first place.
Back later with a wedding update - should have definitive location this afternoon :)
