Kyuhyun stared at his reflection on the full-length mirror. He was wearing a white suit that highlighted his lean body and long legs. His shoes were shiny white and he looked dashing with his dark brown hair that has a slight wave to it.

He was fixing his cuffs when someone cleared his throat to get his attention. He turned his head towards the voice and a soft smile crept on his face, “Heechul hyung.”

“Wow, wow, maknae-ah. I didn’t know you could be this hot,” the beautiful male said as he eyed the younger male up and down. “If only you’re not going to marry with you soon-will-be husband, I would’ve kidnapped you.”

“Hyung, that’s creepy!” the younger male laughed and Heechul joined in.

After a good laugh, they smiled at each other and Heechul walked towards his dongsaeng. He placed his hands on Kyuhyun’s shoulder, gripping it, “Kyuhyun-ah… Be happy, okay?”

Kyuhyun’s eyes softened and he nodded, “….I will, hyung. I will.”

Heechul sighed and stroked Kyuhyun’s hair and landed on his right cheek. He softly stroked the younger male’s cheek and Kyuhyun noticed the tears in his eyes, “Be happy, dongsaeng-ah….”

--

They met when they’re younger. Kyuhyun remembered that day; he was 5 and the older male is 7. He was walking home from school when he heard someone was crying in the park. Curious, young Kyuhyun turned his head towards the crying voice and saw a young boy sitting on the swing, alone, tears gushing out of his eyes.

Kyuhyun, who was taught to never ignore a crying person, walked towards the boy, his curious eyes eyed the boy. Slowly, he crept towards the crying boy; his hands tightly gripped the strap of his bag.

“E-Excuse me, why are you crying?”

The boy shot his head up, teary eyes met Kyuhyun’s curious ones. The boy didn’t answer, in fact, he cried harder upon seeing Kyuhyun. Shocked by the sudden outburst, Kyuhyun started to panic.

“W-Wait! Don’t cry! Yah! Don’t cry!”

But it doesn’t stop, the boy was still crying; loud sobs echoed through the empty park and his shoulder shook as he hiccupped. Not knowing what to do, Kyuhyun sighed loudly and hugged the crying boy tightly, and sure enough, the boy stopped crying.

“Wh-What are you doing…?” the boy squeaked out and Kyuhyun quickly pulled away. He bit his lips and scratched the back of his head awkwardly, “Uhm… It-It just… Well, you won’t stop crying, so I have to do that. Mommy always hugs me when I cried, so I thought it would work! A-and… And well, it did work, right?”

The boy stared at Kyuhyun like he’d just grow another head and Kyuhyun felt uneasy under the stare. He kept his gaze towards his dirty shoes, Mommy will be angry later… and felt his face was getting warmer.

Am I getting a fever?

He thought, cupping his face and sure enough, his face was warm. While he was thinking if he had a fever, a loud laugh erupted from the crying boy, startling Kyuhyun.

“Wh-What!? What’s so funny!?” the boy asked, frowning at the laughing one.

The other boy kept laughing, holding his tummy in the process, “I-it’s just… Hahahahahaha! I-I’m happy, that’s all!”

Kyuhyun pouted, “Why are you so happy? You were crying earlier and now you’re laughing?” Is he crazy?

The other one nodded and sighed as the laughter died down, “I’m happy because you talked to me.”

Kyuhyun tilted his head and the boy looked down his feet, swinging the swing slowly, “I just move here and no one wanted to talk to me… They didn’t like me because all the girls wanted to talk to me…” The boy said as a sad smile graced his lips.

“Well, maybe it’s because they’re jealous of you,” Kyuhyun blurted out and the boy snapped his head up, his eyes widen in surprise.

“Umm… Well… It must be because you’re very good-looking so they’re jealous because all the girls like you,” he continued and Kyuhyun could feel his face was getting warmer and warmer by each second he started blabbering about jealous kids and the boy’s good-looking face.

The boy only stared at him in a blank expression and Kyuhyun stopped talking abruptly because of embarrassment. He bit his lips and fiddled with his fingers, what did I just do?

All of the sudden, the boy started to giggles, confusing Kyuhyun. He stared at the boy as the giggles turned into a genuine laughter and Kyuhyun bit back a snarky remark on how weird the boy is, first crying now laughing?

The laughter continued until Kyuhyun unconsciously joined the laughter (because it’s contagious); the empty park rang with the two small boys’ laughter.

After their laughter died down, the boy hopped off the swing and patted his short before straightening up himself and reached out his hand.

He smiled, “My name is Lee Donghae.”

Kyuhyun blinked at first and he stared at the reaching hand. He didn’t have any friend because people didn’t like his snarky attitude and besides he didn’t know how to make a friend. However, after seeing Donghae’s shining eyes, he hesitantly grabbed the reached out hand, “Kyuhyun… Cho Kyuhyun…”

Donghae grinned as he shook their hands; and then the two played together, talk about their favorite toys, foods, how old they are (and Kyuhyun found out that Donghae was older than him) and for the first time in Kyuhyun’s 5 years life, someone actually thought his snarky attitude is cute.

From that day onwards, they were best friends.

--

“Kyuhyun,” Ryeowook and Jongwoon walked towards him and Kyuhyun smiled at his hyungs.

“Congratulations,” Jongwoon said and Kyuhyun nodded, “Thanks.”

He then turned to Ryeowook and he chuckled at seeing the tears in the older male’s eyes, “Why are you crying, hyung? This is supposed to be a happy day!”

Ryeowook sniffed and nodded, “I know, idiot. I’m just happy, that’s all.”

Kyuhyun smiled softly and he wiped the tears that fell from Ryeowook’s eyes. Unable to control the tears, Ryeowook started sobbing and sniffing softly. Kyuhyun pulled his hyung into a comforting hug, hushing the older male like a mother would do to her crying child.

“You need to be happy, maknae-ah….” Ryeowook choked out and Kyuhyun saw Jongwoon nodded at him, agreeing to what Ryeowook just said.

--

Kyuhyun and Donghae were very close ever since the day they met at the empty park. They’re always together and ever since they found out they were actually neighbors, they would sleep at each other’s house in rotation. Sometimes at Donghae’s and sometimes at Kyuhyun’s.

Donghae had also made new friends; Lee Hyukjae, Lee Sungmin and Kim Kibum who automatically become Kyuhyun’s friends. The younger male (actually youngest) at first hesitated in befriending them. But soon he found out they knew all about Kyuhyun from Donghae and were excited in meeting the younger one. They formed a little group with Sungmin as the self-proclaimed leader.

Years passed and Kyuhyun is 12-years-old, Kibum’s 13 and Donghae, Hyukjae and Sungmin turned 14. The 5 of them went to the same school and in the same class since Kyuhyun and Kibum are smart-ass brats (as Sungmin said) and they managed to skipped grades.

The first time Donghae proposed to him was after Donghae got rejected by a girl he loves.

The older male was crying because he was so heart-broken by the rejection and Kyuhyun (though reluctantly) had to search for him all over the school (because he loves to hide whenever he was crying) and after two hours of searching, he found Donghae crying at the park when they first met.

Really… I spent two hours searching for him in school and he was here, Kyuhyun thought grudgingly as he glared and practically stomped towards the older male. It’s almost like 7 years ago, when they first met; Donghae was crying and Kyuhyun’s the one coaxing him, just like now. He rested his hands on his hips as he stared at the older male with a frown.

After two minutes waiting for Donghae to stop crying (which never happened), Kyuhyun huffed and kicked the older male’s leg, repeatedly with an annoyed ‘Yah!’ with every kick.

After 5 annoying ‘Yah’ and kicks, Donghae finally stopped to glare at the younger one, “What!?”

Kyuhyun scoffed, “Stop crying. You’re such a baby!”

Donghae pouted, his eyes were red and puffy, “I am not a baby! I’m older than you!”

“So act like one!” Kyuhyun countered back and Donghae pouted more while muttering something unheard by Kyuhyun under his breath.

Kyuhyun finally sighed, “Donghae hyung, there’s no need to cry about her.”

Donghae looked up, “She’s not worth it. Besides, you’re very handsome so it’ll be easy for you to find another girl. She’s not that pretty by the way…” Kyuhyun said absentmindedly, not looking into Donghae’s eyes; especially the ‘handsome’ part.

“Really?” Donghae asked.

“What?”

“That I can get anyone I want?”

I didn’t say it like that, “Yeah, sure. Whatever.” Kyuhyun said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

They stayed silent for a while. Uncomfortable with the awkward silence, Kyuhyun cleared his throat, “Let’s go home, I’m hungry.” He turned around and walked away quickly without hearing Donghae’s reply.

When he had walked a few steps, he heard Donghae called for him, “Hey… Hey, Kyu!”

Kyuhyun hummed in reply, glancing briefly towards Donghae, “What is it, Hae hyung?”

Donghae then suddenly grabbed his wrist, making Kyuhyun flinched in surprise. He blinked his eyes rapidly as he turned to look at Donghae, “Wh-What?”

“Kyu, will you marry me?”

Kyuhyun stared at his hyung who looked at him with shiny eyes, expectant and a hopeful smile on his lips. Kyuhyun stared, and stared, and stared.

“…..No,” he answered bluntly, straightforwardly, calmly.

Donghae’s face fell into a kicked-puppy look, “Whyyy!?”

And Kyuhyun stared again,

“Because I don’t want to.”

It was cruel, harsh but Kyuhyun couldn’t help it. He turned around quickly and walked away, trying to fight the blush crept on his face. Trying to calm his heart that almost leaped out of his chest. Trying to breathe normally.

“Sorry, Kyu. But I’m not taking ‘no’ as an answer,” he heard Donghae said behind him before the older male fastened his steps and walked in front of him. And then Kyuhyun noticed that Donghae still hasn’t let go of his wrist.

He bit his lips and he knew his face must be as red as a tomato right now. He hesitantly looked up and saw Donghae’s slightly muscular back in front of him (thanks to his dancing routine with Hyukjae) and his heart beats faster.

I’m not taking ‘no’ as an answer.

Kyuhyun covered his mouth with his free hand, avoiding any giggles or grin escaping his lips.

Why are you acting so cool? Didn’t you know how you messed up with my heart?

--

“Hi there.”

Kyuhyun looked up and his face brightened instantly upon seeing Hankyung and Hyukjae in front of him. He hasn’t met Hankyung for 3 years because the older male had to stay in China for his project; and he really missed his hyung. He stood up and hugged the older male, “Thank you for coming, hyung.”

Hankyung laughed, “Of course I’m here. My dongsaeng is getting married.”

Kyuhyun smiled and pulled away. He then turned his attention towards Hyukjae, “Congratulations, Kyu.”

“Thank you, hyung.”

Hyukjae bit his lips and Kyuhyun noticed his eyes were glistening before he blinked and took a deep breath, a smile on his lips, “I’m not gonna cry. It’s a happy day for you.”

Kyuhyun nodded and hugged the older male, Hankyung patting his back, “Yeah, it is.”

--

The second proposal from Donghae, Kyuhyun would never forget it.

When Kyuhyun was 14, Kibum was 15 and Donghae, Hyukjae and Sungmin were 16. They’re still together, still at the same school and the same class. They made other friends like Shim Changmin (and for the second time, Kyuhyun was the one befriending him, the first time was with Donghae), Kim Ryeowook and Kim Jongwoon. Changmin was at the same age as Kyuhyun (he skipped grade and loves gaming, part of the reasons why it’s easy for Kyuhyun to befriending him) while Ryeowook was the same age as Kibum and Jongwoon is 16 like the three Lees.

When Kyuhyun was 14, he found out about Hyukjae’s crush on Donghae.

He was about to go and meet Donghae and Hyukjae at the dance studio so that the three of them can go home together (Sungmin had to go home early because he had something to do), like they had always do.

He was opening the door when he heard the confession.

“I-I… I like you, Donghae.”

Kyuhyun froze instantly and his eyes widened. Hyukjae and Donghae was standing in the middle of the studio, Hyukjae’s back facing him and Donghae’s facing him. His heart was beating faster in anxiety, waiting for Donghae’s reply.

“Hyuk…” he started and stopped, and time seemed to stop as well.

“Hae, I really, really like you… Ever since we met, I’ve always like you…” the older male said, biting his lips and fiddling with his fingers.

Donghae seemed hesitated for a while before he opened his mouth, please say no, please say no.

“Hyuk, I like you too-”

And Kyuhyun left the room without hearing the rest.

~--------------~

For two weeks, Kyuhyun had ignored Donghae (and Hyukjae too but it was unnoticed). And Donghae noticed it.

Whenever he came near Kyuhyun, the younger one would always find some excuses to avoid him. They stopped going home together, stopped hanging out together, stopped sleeping at each other’s house.

It almost like they had stopped being friends.

One day, Donghae had cornered him with a stern voice and a pointed look. Kyuhyun tried to escape, but Donghae won’t let him.

“Tell me, Kyuhyun-ah, why the hell are you avoiding me!?” Donghae’s voice was loud, harsh, demanding and Kyuhyun flinched visibly. He battled with his thoughts before he blurted out, “I heard Hyukjae hyung confessed to you.”

Donghae’s eyes widen in surprise and Kyuhyun was pissed at no reason, “Kyuhyun-”

“No, I don’t want to hear it.”

Donghae stared at him with unreadable but dark eyes, “Why?”

Because I’m jealous, “Because I’m angry.”

“Why?” Donghae repeated and he stepped closer to Kyuhyun, making him feels strangely suffocated.

Because you accepted his confession, “Because you guys didn’t tell me about your relationship.”

Donghae’s eyes widened yet again, “Wait, Kyu. It’s not-”

Why are you still denying the blatant truth? Kyuhyun glared at the older male, “I knew, hyung. There’s no need to lie. I’m not going to stop your relationship,” I wanted to, “But don’t hide it from me.” Don’t lie to me.

“But, Kyu, I-”

Kyuhyun shook his head, stopping Donghae from saying anything, “I’m happy for you hyung.” It hurts but I am.

And Kyuhyun quickly slipped out of Donghae and walked away, ignoring Donghae’s desperate call for his name.

Kyuhyun didn’t go home after that.

He was wandering aimlessly that he didn’t realize it was already night. Sighing, he sat on the swing at the park where they first met. He stared at the ground while slowly swinging the swing, softly humming to a song.

He frowned when his vision was blurry.

Groaning, he wiped his eyes, stop thinking about him, Kyuhyun. Donghae hyung and Hyukjae hyung are your best friends. You should be happy for them.

Kyuhyun sniffed and the tears stopped, I should be happy for them…

Besides, Hyukjae had so much common with Donghae. They both loves dancing, both childish and a crybaby, both cheerful and has a bright personality and both popular.

Kyuhyun didn’t have anything common with Donghae. He hated dancing (or any physical activities in general), he’s very mature despite the fact that he’s the youngest in their little group, he’s always moody and boring, he didn’t have a bright personality (part of the reasons why he couldn’t make any friends) and he’s certainly not popular because he’s a nerd and people talk to him because of Donghae, Hyukjae, Sungmin, Kibum, Ryeowook and Jongwoon.

They didn’t even share the same interest and they always fight because of their differences.

While Donghae loves exercising, Kyuhyun prefers gaming instead. While Donghae could make friend with a smile and a bright ‘Nice to meet you’, Kyuhyun always scared the person away without saying anything. Donghae loves going out the sun and running along the beach while Kyuhyun prefers reading books under a shade. Donghae loves taking off his clothes and showing off his great body while Kyuhyun hated appearing half-naked in front of other people (including Donghae) because he thinks it’s a crazy thing to do and he also didn’t have a muscular body like Donghae. Donghae loves dogs but Kyuhyun loathed them and they also hated Kyuhyun. Donghae loves upbeat and loud music while Kyuhyun prefers soft ballads.

There were too many differences between them.

Kyuhyun sighed, I guess I should give up on him…

Suddenly he heard footsteps coming towards him and when he looked up, his eyes widen upon seeing a group of boys older than him (probably 17 and up) in front of him. They were smirking at him and Kyuhyun felt his body went cold with fear. Gulping, he stood up from the swing and took his bags before making an attempt to leave the place.

But one of the boys caught him by the wrist and jerked him forward. Kyuhyun gasped and the boy gripped his chin and tilted his head up so that he can look at him properly.

“Well, well, what do we have here? What are you doing here, alone, cutie?”

Kyuhyun’s eyes widen in fear and he started trashing his body to escape the male’s hold but no avail when the older male wrapped his arm around his waist and pulled Kyuhyun closer to him.

“Let me go!” Kyuhyun threatened through gritted teeth and he glared at the male, hoping that the fear won’t appear in his eyes.

The male chuckled darkly as he leaned closer to Kyuhyun, their lips inches apart, “What if I don’t want to?”

“Wha-”

“Yah, let him go!!”

Kyuhyun’s head snapped towards the familiar voice, his eyes widen, “Donghae hyung!”

The male in front of him ‘tsk’-ed in annoyance as he turned his head towards Donghae. He smirked at him, “Stay out of this, kid.”

Donghae glared at the male, “Yah, I’m not a ‘kid’!! I might be older than you! Besides, you can’t touch that guy! He’s mine!”

Kyuhyun was shocked at hearing Donghae’s statement. He gawked at the older male as he tried to free himself from the stranger’s grip, “What-”

“Shut up, Kyuhyun,” Donghae hissed towards him and Kyuhyun bit his lips instantly. But then he felt anger bubbling up in him, how could he told me to shut up!?

“Yah, get out of here!” he shouted, startling Donghae and also the stranger.

“Wh-What?” Donghae was caught off guard as he looked at Kyuhyun like the younger one just grew another head.

“I said, get out of here! You won’t win this fight anyways!” Kyuhyun said sharply while trying hard to jerk his wrist away from the stranger, damn he’s strong!

“What? YAH!! How could you say that!? I am strong!”

“You’re strong amongst 5-years-old kids, hyung, so get out of here before you’re injured!!” Kyuhyun countered back and Donghae gaped like a fish, he was loss at words. How could Kyuhyun said that?

“Yah, Cho Kyuhyun!”

“Lee Donghae!”

Donghae was about to counter back when the stranger chuckled. The two of them snapped their attentions towards the male, his eyes glint with amusement, “You guys are such a cute couple.”

Before Kyuhyun could do anything, he was thrown towards the male’s friends and they caught him by his arms, immobilizing him. Kyuhyun struggled to get free, “Hyung, Donghae hyung!! Get out of here!!”

But Donghae didn’t listen to him (like always). He approached the male while throwing away his bag and loosening his tie before throwing it to the side. When he was getting closer to the male, he threw a punch towards the male’s face, sending him tumbling a bit.

“Yunho!” one of the males that were holding Kyuhyun exclaimed and Kyuhyun was hit with recognition. He knew this guy, Jung Yunho. The school’s most badass student. He always gets involve in fights and he’s probably the person you didn’t want to encounter with ever.

Yunho spit the blood and smirked before he glared at Donghae before lunging towards him and punched him on the face. It was a strong punch, Kyuhyun knew it. He could hear Donghae’s jaw cracked and the older male fell on to the ground with a loud ‘thud’.

“Donghae!!” Kyuhyun yelled and jerked his arms forward, but the two males that were holding him tightened their grips.

“Now, now cutie. Yunho didn’t like his fight being interrupted,” one of the male said and the others snickered.

Kyuhyun gasped in horror when Yunho threw another punch towards Donghae. Before he could even stand straight, Yunho punched him again, and again, and again. The fight went on, with Yunho kicking and punching Donghae mercilessly.

Kyuhyun felt tears pricking his eyes. He watched helplessly as Donghae’s white school uniform was stained with his blood. There were bloods anywhere, his nose, his lips, the corner of his eyes and his face was filled with bruises.

After a while, Yunho finally stopped beating Donghae who was groaning in pain. He smirked before wiping the blood at the corner of his lips and turned around to face Kyuhyun. He tilted Kyuhyun’s chin, “Now, where were we?”

He leant towards Kyuhyun and knowing what he wanted to do, Kyuhyun spit at him, “Bastard. Let me go!!”

Yunho clicked his teeth and wiped the spit. He smirked before slapping Kyuhyun’s face, hard. Kyuhyun clenched his teeth, trying to stop his tears from falling down because of the pain. He’s not going to look weak in front of these scumbags.

“You shouldn’t do that, cutie,” Yunho said darkly as he grabbed Kyuhyun’s face and crashed their lips together.

Kyuhyun’s eyes widened; that was his first kiss.

He struggled to from the two males’ grips and shut his lips tightly to prevent the kiss from getting deeper. Yunho pulled the back of his hair, making him gasped in pain and Yunho took the opportunity to slip his tongue inside Kyuhyun’s mouth.

Feeling angry and disgusted, Kyuhyun bit Yunho’s tongue, causing the male to hissed in pain and pulled away instantly. “Bitch,” he slapped Kyuhyun and this time it drew blood at the corner of his lips.

“I told you that you shouldn’t do that,” Kyuhyun shut his eyes tightly and bit his lips as he expecting another slap but it didn’t happen. He opened his eyes when he heard the sound of a punch and his eyes widened at seeing Donghae throwing a strong punch that made Yunho fell on the ground.

“I told you…” Donghae breathe out, “He’s mine.”

“You bastard-” suddenly all of Yunho’s gang launched towards Donghae, leaving only one of them to hold Kyuhyun in place. Kyuhyun’s eyes widened in horror as Donghae had to fight with 4 males who appeared stronger than him.

“Stop, Donghae!!” Kyuhyun yelled desperately as he saw Donghae fell on to the ground and the males kept kicking him. Tears already gushed out of his eyes as he yelled for them to stop again and again.

After a few kicks, they finally stop when they saw Donghae didn’t move anymore. “Shit,” Yunho cursed and ran his fingers through his hair. He grabbed his bag, “We’ve got to go,” he said and all of the males hurriedly fled away from the park, leaving the unconscious body on the ground.

Kyuhyun fell on the ground as soon as Yunho’s gang member let him go to run away, his legs were too weak to hold him up. He stared at Donghae’s lifeless body with horror and his body was trembling. Sobbing, he went towards Donghae and scooped the older male into his arms.

“No…” he choked out. “Please no….” With trembling hands, he dialed Sungmin’s number and held the phone tightly to his ear. He sobbed harder as he waited for the older male to pick up.

“Hello?”

“H-Hyung… Hyung….”

“Kyuhyun? What’s wrong?”

“Hyung…..” Kyuhyun lets out a shuddering breathe, “Hyung, help us. Donghae hyung… He got into a fight…. Please hyung, help us…. He-He’s…. He’s badly injured and he’s unconscious…”

“Wh-What?”

Kyuhyun cried, “Hyung, what should I do? I-I’m so scared….”

“Kyu, calm down. Where are you?” Sungmin said and Kyuhyun could hear the older male was grabbing his jacket and running out of the house.

“W-We’re at the park… Hyung…. Hyung, what should I do?”

“Okay, I’ll be there,” Sungmin’s voice was strained. “Calm down, Kyuhyun, I’ll be there.”

Kyuhyun shut his eyes tightly as the call ended. He put away his phone and held Donghae’s body tighter, “Hyung… Donghae hyung, please open your eyes…. Please….” He pleaded and buried his face into Donghae’s neck, crying harder.

“…K-Kyu…”

Kyuhyun pulled away and he looked at Donghae with his eyes widen. Donghae was trying to keep his eyes open, “Shh! Don’t speak now, hyung!” he said hurriedly. “Please…. I-I can’t lose you…” Kyuhyun cried out, his tears dripping onto Donghae’s bruised face.

“Heh…” Donghae managed to pull a smirk. “Don’t cry Kyu… I-I’m not going to die-”

“Hyung! Please…. D-Don’t say anything… Just hold on…” Kyuhyun said, holding Donghae’s body tighter.

Donghae groaned in pain, “But I have to say it… I-I have to know… Kyu…”

“Hyung….” The younger one choked out, shutting his eyes as tears rolling down his cheeks. He was so scared right now, Donghae can’t die. Please, don’t take him away from me. Please…

“Kyu… W-Will you marry me?”

Kyuhyun nodded hurriedly, still crying. He hugged Donghae’s head to his chest, sobbing into the older male’s hair.

“I will, hyung. I will. So, please… Please hold on…Please live….”

~--------------~

After two days, Donghae was getting better. He still couldn’t move his body much because of his broken ribs and bruised body, but he was back to the original Donghae. He talked and laughed normally and Kyuhyun was happy to see him getting better.

“Hey,” Kyuhyun’s and Donghae’s head snapped towards the voice. Donghae’s face lightened up and Kyuhyun had to stop his face from fell into a frown when a smiling Hyukjae entered the room.

“How are you?” the older male asked as he approached Donghae with flowers in his hands. Donghae grinned, “I’m getting better!”

Hyukjae smiled, “I’m glad.”

“Umm… I think I’ll go get something to drink,” Kyuhyun said, already standing up. He smiled at Hyukjae and was about to leave when Donghae suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Kyuhyun’s brows arched and Donghae tugged his hand, “Stay here. I wanted to say something.”

Donghae looked at Hyukjae and smiled, “Hyukkie, could you get us something to drink and eat? Please buy something outside the hospital, this hospital’s foods suck.” He pouted at the last sentence and Hyukjae laughed, “Yeah, yeah. Make sure you pay back my money, Lee Donghae.”

Donghae grinned and nodded and Hyukjae smiled at Kyuhyun before leaving the room.

If Kyuhyun’s not mistaken, he saw something flickered in Hyukjae’s eyes when he smiled at him.

“Sit down,” Donghae said and Kyuhyun obeyed mutely. He eyed Donghae’s fingers that are still around his wrist.

“I need to talk to you…about Hyukjae and me.”

Kyuhyun lets out a breathe he didn’t know he was holding, “It’s okay hyung. I’m happy for you,” he grinned and his face hurt because it was a faked one.

Donghae frowned, “But I’m not in a relationship with him.”

What…?

Kyuhyun’s mouth was hung open as he stared as his hyung in shock. Donghae sighed and ran his fingers through his hair while stroking Kyuhyun’s wrist with his thumb, “You won’t let me explain that… After Hyukjae confessed, I rejected him.”

“B-But… But I heard you said you like him,” Kyuhyun defended.

“I said I like him…. As a friend,” Donghae explained and Kyuhyun was utterly dumbfounded. He avoided Donghae for weeks because of nothing? He made Donghae almost died because of nothing?

Without noticing it, tears rolled down his cheeks. Donghae’s eyes widen in surprise. He blinked for a moment before hurriedly wiped the tears away, “Why are you crying?”

Kyuhyun shook his head, “Nothing,” his voice cracked and the tears didn’t stop. Kyuhyun finally gave up and cried, “I’m sorry…”

The older male stared at him for a while before he tilted Kyuhyun’s head so that he was facing him. He gave Kyuhyun an assuring smile, “It’s okay, Kyuhyun-ah. You have done nothing wrong.”

“B-But… But I…” he sobbed, “I made you like this… I’m sorry, hyung. If only I let you explain…I’m sorry…”

Donghae hushed the younger one by pulling him into his arms. His body hurt a bit, but holding Kyuhyun close like this made him calm.

“It’s okay, Kyuhyun-ah…. It’s not your fault.”

--

The next people who came at him were Changmin, with his boyfriend, Jung Yunho.

“Congratulations,” Changmin said with teary eyes and wide smile as he pulled Kyuhyun into a hug. The latter laughed, “Thanks. But I’d appreciate it more if you said it with no tears in your eyes.”

“Oh, shut up,” the younger one retorted back but he wiped his eyes nonetheless, not wanting to ruin such good day.

“Congratulations, Kyuhyun,” Yunho said, shaking his hand and Kyuhyun nodded and smiled back, “Thank you, hyung.”

It’s funny actually to think how the male who tried to rape Kyuhyun is his best friend’s boyfriend. Kyuhyun remembered that day, Changmin was telling him about his crush on the older male, but Kyuhyun told him that Yunho is a bad guy who tried to rape him before. However, blinded by love, Changmin ignored what other people (by other people meant practically almost everyone in the school) said and continued crushing on Yunho, the school’s most badass delinquent.

What’s more, Yunho, who found out about Changmin’s crush on him, decided to be a jerk and used that to humiliate the younger one. He made fun of him, this nerd dare to crush on me!? insulting him by calling him names and said that you’re not someone who qualified to even look at me, the Great Jung Yunho and many more.

But still, Changmin would smile and shrug everything off.

And sure enough, Changmin’s patience harboring a crush towards Yunho for four months paid off when the older male accepted him. Kyuhyun remembered; it happened in front of all the students. At first he thought Yunho was about beat Changmin because he was glaring at his friend, but then he noticed there’s something dancing in the older male eyes; confusion, guilt and love.

“You like me?” Yunho said; voice stern.

Changmin kept his face impassive as he locked his eyes with Yunho, “No.” Yunho’s eyes widened slightly and before he could say anything, Changmin cuts him off with the same calm look and tone, “I love you.” There were murmurs around them, coming from all the students. Some of them mocking Changmin, some of them feeling sorry towards the younger male and some of them were excited on what would happen next.

The staring competition between the two continued and after that Yunho gave up with a heavy sigh. He ran his fingers through his slightly messy hair, “This is all your fault. You won’t go away from my mind.”

Changmin’s brows rose in confusion and he was about to ask what he meant when Yunho had pulled him into a kiss, earning gasps from all the students. After they pulled apart, Yunho leant his forehead against Changmin’s, “I don’t know why, but I think I love you too.”

After that, Yunho had changed into a better person and he also apologized to everyone he had hurt (like Kyuhyun) and in the end, he became part of Kyuhyun’s group of friends.

“So,” Kyuhyun started, smirking. “When will the two of you get married?”

Changmin blushed and Yunho laughed, “We will, don’t worry.”

“Yeah, don’t worry,” Changmin parroted, fixing his bowtie to cover his redden face. “Besides…” he trailed off, a sad smile on his lips as he cupped Kyuhyun’s face.

“This is a happy day for you, so it’ll be only about you.”

--

When Kyuhyun entered college, it was with Donghae, Kibum, Hyukjae, Sungmin, Ryeowook, Jongwoon, Changmin and Yunho. They also made new friends here; Choi Siwon (who’s at the same age as Kibum and Ryeowook), some seniors like Park Jungsu, Kim Heechul, Kim Youngwoon, Shin Donghee (who wanted them to call him Shindong) and a Chinese male named Hankyung. During the mid-semester, they met two Chinese transfer students, Zhou Mi and Henry Lau (finally, someone younger than him, someone who could be his slave!). And it was surprising for all the hyungs when their maknae came with two new students following him like puppies; the three of them drenched in the rain.

“These two won’t stop following me just because I spoke Chinese with them,” Kyuhyun grumbled in annoyance as he rinsed off his hair and clothes.

It’s a great year for him; he met a lot of new people and made a lot of new friends.

And he and Donghae hooked up together.

It was unofficial and no words were exchanged. The two of them always spent their times together and the others had teased them being a married couple. Of course, it ended with Kyuhyun scowling (while blushing) and Donghae laughing loudly and agreeing.

From there, they acted like a couple more (like feeding each other, laughing and spending time with each other, went to romantic dates, exchanging kisses and hugs and many more). But Donghae never touch him more than the drawn line.

And Kyuhyun was happy with that.

During his second year, he was involved in an accident with Hyukjae, Jungsu and Shindong. He was the most injured and all Kyuhyun could remember from that accident was screams, blood, pain, pain, pain and more pain.

And Donghae proposing to him for the third time.

It hurts, Kyuhyun thought as he tried opening his eyes. The light was too bright and it mercilessly pierced into his chocolate brown orbs, making him groan in pain silently. After a while, when his eyes had adjusted to the light, he took on his surrounding and he realized he was in the hospital. Memories from the accident flashed through his mind and Kyuhyun shut his eyes tightly to get rid of the bad memories.

“Hey, sleepy head…. How are you feeling?”

His attention was snapped towards the slightly hoarse, but still familiar voice. He blinked at the older male, Donghae and stretched a small and weak smile.

“….Tired…. My body hurts….”

“Shh, it’s okay… Don’t move yet. The doctor said you’ll be okay. Hold on, okay? Just a bit more and you’ll be out of here,” Donghae assured him. He ran his fingers through Kyuhyun’s soft brown hair affectionately; a smile of relief graced his lips.

However, Kyuhyun was not blind.

He saw it, the slight sunken cheeks of the older male, his tanned skin getting paler, his eyes tired and red and puffy.

“Hyung… Have you been crying….?” Kyuhyun asked, his voice cracked and hoarse from not being able to talk for quite some time because he was mute because of the shock from the accident.

Donghae stopped combing his hair, his fingers tangled to Kyuhyun’s hair and Kyuhyun felt the slight tremble from his hand. He sighed and took Kyuhyun’s hand with his free hand, “….Of course, you idiot. I was afraid I’m going to lose you…”

Kyuhyun stared at Donghae as the older one averted his gaze to their entwined fingers. He smirked, “Heh…. It’s a revenge. I felt the same when it was you who’s dying.”

Snapping his head towards Kyuhyun, Donghae frowned, “Idiot, it’s not time to joke!”

The younger male was taken aback by the sudden stern and harsh tone from Donghae. “I….” the older male bit his lips, his eyes started to water.

“Hyung…” Kyuhyun started, trying to reach for him, but he couldn’t because of the tubes and his body was still hurting.

“I can’t lose you, Kyu…” Donghae cuts him off, tears dripping from his eyes to Kyuhyun’s frail hand (and Kyuhyun suddenly remembered he had felt the same feeling of water dripping onto his hand like raindrops when he was unconscious). “You meant so much to me…” he added, wiping his tears and gripped Kyuhyun’s hand a bit tighter.

“Hyung, don’t cry…. I…” Kyuhyun licked his dried lips, his throat was hurting. “I’m still here, right? I’m here….”

“….Yeah, thank God…” Donghae sniffed and nodded. “I don’t know what I would do if I lose you…” He lets out a shuddering breathe and bit his lips, trying to stop the tears from falling. Kyuhyun stayed silent, he’s not good with words and the least he could do to the older one is gripping his hand tightly.

Donghae smiled at Kyuhyun’s little action, his heart filled with warmth even though the room was cold and Kyuhyun’s hand is frail and a bit cold. Taking a deep breath, he grinned playfully at the younger one, “Besides, you haven’t answered my question.”

Kyuhyun, seeing Donghae’s playful smile is back, smiled back, though a small and weak one, “…What is it?”

The dancer grinned, “Will you marry me?”

Kyuhyun’s eyes widened while Donghae waited for his answer with the same hopeful and anticipating smile he always held whenever he was proposing to Kyuhyun. Feeling his face started to heat up, Kyuhyun yanked his hand from Donghae’s grip (though it was painful, physically) and turned around so that he was back-facing Donghae. He pulled up the hospital’s white covers until his whole body is covered so that Donghae won’t saw the red cheeks, the goofy smile and hear his heart beating in a fast rhythm.

“Kyu?”

Donghae asked, looking guilty and anxious. Did Kyuhyun reject him? Again? Maybe it wasn’t a good time, but he needed to know. Besides, they’re a couple (though unofficial, but still, they did what a married couple did. Except for some things…) and they had been together since they’re still young boys.

Feeling disappointed (again), Donghae sighed and slumped on the chair. A few seconds later, the younger one’s timid, cute voice rang in the room, startling Donghae for a moment.

“…Ask me again when I’m healthy, pabo.”

When they said third time is the charm, they’re definitely right about that.

--

Kyuhyun jumped when a strong palm landed on his shoulder. Turning his head towards the owner, his face lightened up with a grin, “Hyungs!”

Youngwoon and Siwon smiled at him and Kyuhyun hugged both of his hyungs.

“Yah, you’ll wrinkle your suit,” Youngwoon said as they pulled away from each other, snickering. Kyuhyun chuckled and Siwon smiled his dimple smile and the three of them changed stories and asked each other on how they’re doing.

Siwon is in a band (he plays drums) and he often travels overseas and it had been three years since he had last saw his hyung. As for Youngwoon, he just finished his military service a few months ago and now he’s working for his family business. Kyuhyun rarely keep in touch with his two hyungs because they were too busy here and there, but they still remembered each other.

“Thank you for coming, Siwon hyung, Youngwoon hyung,” Kyuhyun said, genuinely grateful having his two hyungs coming to the most important day of his life. The two older males nodded with a soft smile and Kyuhyun almost frowned at something that flickered across their eyes when Siwon patted his shoulder and pulled him into a soft, warm hug.

“Be happy, Kyuhyun-ah.”

--

After three months Kyuhyun was discharged from the hospital, he had never seen Donghae. Or maybe he did saw Donghae, but the older male always avoiding him by saying he was busy or ‘there’s something I needed to do’. And what’s more, his other hyungs (and Changmin and Henry) knew something but they hid it from him.

Which pissed him more.

He had demanded his hyungs to just spill it out, but they always manage to lie their way out from Kyuhyun’s non-stop interrogation and as for Changmin, the younger one would shrug and told him that he was hallucinating things because of the accident with that bored and casual tone and Henry would cry and ran away, wailing in some Chinese words Kyuhyun couldn’t understand.

Which made him pissed even more.

So, he decided to act like how Donghae had act towards him. He made sure the older one knew he was avoiding him and it was hard because Kyuhyun could feel the kicked-puppy look radiated from Donghae to his back when he practically gave his back whenever he came across Donghae.

Serves you right.

And then, one night, when Kyuhyun was watching a stupid, sappy, love drama alone while stabbing a tub of ice-cream with a spoon (and he imagined the ice-cream was Donghae and all his hyungs and Changmin and Henry), he heard multiple, loud, annoying knocks on his door.

Grumbling, he went to open the door and he readied himself to yelled and kicked at whoever disturbing his lonely night when he met with all his hyungs (Changmin and Henry, too).

“What?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow.

And the answer of his question is an eerily looking smirking Heechul.

--

“Yah, hyung!! What are you doing!? I know I’m hot, but kidnapping me!?” Kyuhyun yelled from behind the seat while sitting on Siwon’s lap who holds him securely in his muscled arms.

Heechul snorted and glanced from the rearview mirror towards the younger one, “You are hot, Kyu. But you’re not my type.”

“Fuck this, hyung! Let me go!” Kyuhyun growled, trashing his body from Siwon’s grip. Jungsu was driving and he worriedly casting glances towards the trashing male and gave him an apologetic look and Heechul was beside him, typing something on his phone while shooting a warning look to Jungsu, shut up and drive. Sungmin was beside Kyuhyun and Siwon at the last seat, an amused look on his face and Kyuhyun really wanted to punch that smirk off his face (luckily Siwon was restraining his movement). Henry was at the middle seat, between Zhou Mi and Hyukjae.

Changmin, Youngwoon, Ryeowook, Jongwoon, Yunho, Hankyung and Shindong was in Yunho’s car, following them from behind.

Henry, the youngest one was fiddling with his fingers in nervousness and his body would tense every time Kyuhyun called him and let me go, Henry! and he relaxed when Zhou Mi patted his thigh and smiled in assurance. The fashionista then would smile at Kyuhyun and said “Kuixian, calm down. You would be thanking us for this later.”

“Thank you !?” Kyuhyun scoffed, repeatedly. “Why should I thank you!? You guys just fucking barged into my room, forcing me to wear these…these shits and then kidnapped me!! Why should I thank you !?”

Zhou Mi then mocked a hurt look but then that look soon replaced with the same smirk Sungmin had and he winked at the younger one, “Just wait and see Kuixian. Besides, what you were wearing were not some shits.”

(Of course, because it’s a designers clothing Zhou Mi had bought for him).

Kyuhyun scowled and sighed in annoyance. He wanted to ran his fingers through his nicely style hair in frustration, but Siwon’s grip was too strong so he gave up and leaned against the older one’s muscular chest, too tired to fight anymore.

“Do you want some candy, Kyu?” Hyukjae asked, shoving a strawberry flavored lollipop (that he had licked for an hour, mind you) to Kyuhyun’s face with an innocent, wide-eyes look.

“No thanks,” Kyuhyun said, eyeing the moist, red, sweet thing with disgust and he regretted immediately when Hyukjae pouted and gave him a kicked-puppy look, “Really?”

Kyuhyun sighed in defeat (if he could, he would massaged his temple right now), and nodded, “Alright, alright. I’ll take it. I need something sweet by the way,” and he opened his mouth so that Hyukjae could happily put the lollipop into his mouth and Kyuhyun mentally scowled at the thought of Hyukjae licking the same lollipop earlier.

“Good job, Hyukjae-ah. That would silent him.”

Kyuhyun froze upon hearing Heechul’s words and he stared wide-eyes and disbelieve when Hyukjae chuckled and high-fiving Heechul. His mouth was agape slightly when Hyukjae smirked and winked at him.

How could he fell for that sick trap?

“Oh, by the way, Kyuhyun,” Kyuhyun glared at Heechul who laughed before his face turned serious, “You spit that lollipop on my car’s cushion, I’ll kidnap you and sent you to a whore house.”

Kyuhyun gulped and went silent at Heechul’s threat.

--

“H-Hyung…. Wh-What’s this?”

Kyuhyun was standing with his doe-eyes widen, his mouth agape, his heart was beating rapidly against his chest and his cheeks heating.

“You told me to propose you again after you’re healthy.”

Donghae was on his knees, grinning, a satin box with silver shining ring in it in his hands, a hopeful look in his eyes.

“Hyuuuung! Get up! This so embarrassing!”

Kyuhyun blushed harder as he tried to get Donghae up, but the older one was stronger than him and Donghae refused to get up. Kyuhyun glared behind him, his hyungs were snickering and giving thumbs up at him (Yunho and Heechul even took pictures of them!), damn it, stupid hyungs!

And Changmin and Henry too!

As soon as he arrived at this 5-star restaurant (by arrived means Siwon lifting him up like a bag of dirt, ignoring him as he trashed around), he was met with Donghae, wearing a black suit, his hair nicely styled to perfection, a nervous but enthusiastic smile on his face and a gorgeous table with candles lit on it.

Feeling suspicious, Kyuhyun let Donghae lead him to the table and seated him like a gentleman would (to a girl, mind you!). They ate some expensive French foods Kyuhyun didn’t know how to pronounce (he just let Donghae ordered for him) and chatted a little.

When suddenly Donghae stood up, kneeled beside him and pulled out a small satin box and opened it, revealing a silver ring while smoothly saying,

“Will you marry me?”

Kyuhyun, who was shocked to hear the proposal, jumped off his seat and backed away two steps, warily eyed the rest of customers in the restaurant who started looking at them while whispering something. He had tried to make Donghae stand up and exit the restaurant because dammit, people are watching! but Lee fucking Donghae won’t move an inch.

“Nuh-uh… You have to answer me first,” the older male pursed his lips childishly and Kyuhyun couldn’t help but to wonder how the hell was he suppose to marry a man who acted like a 5-years-old.

“Hyung-” he started, running his fingers through his hair in frustration, he could feel Heechul glaring at some of the customers, are they gays?

“Cho Kyuhyun, would you marry me?” Donghae repeated, more firmly, confidently, and Kyuhyun now wondered how Donghae could turn from childish to manly so fast.

It was silent. Kyuhyun was staring at Donghae and Donghae was staring at Kyuhyun. He could feel the older one was asking him, ‘Are you afraid?’ through his eyes.

Kyuhyun was not afraid actually. In fact, he had been waiting for this day since forever. However, now, he couldn’t find himself to say ‘yes’.

He’s not afraid of what other people would think of him, he’s not afraid of Donghae.

He’s a bit afraid of himself.

He’s afraid if he couldn’t be a good person for Donghae. Donghae is the best thing that had ever happened to him and Kyuhyun was grateful for having someone as wonderful as Lee Donghae loving him so much.

But, is Cho Kyuhyun the best thing that ever happened to Lee Donghae?

Kyuhyun hesitated and started fiddling with his empty fingers. He bit his lips nervously and he turned his head towards his friends, and they could also see the hesitation in his eyes.

‘Just do what your heart wanted to do’, he saw Jungsu mouthed at him.

What my heart wants?

He turned towards Donghae, the same smile still on his face. Never faltered even the slightest.

So, Kyuhyun took a deep breath and answered with a,

“Aish…. You idiot. I already said ‘yes’ when you asked me the second time!”

“But it could be out of guilt. What about now?” Donghae asked quickly, and Kyuhyun couldn’t help but to giggle at the eagerness Donghae showed him. So he answered with happy, loud, enthusiastic,

“Yes, I will marry you, Lee Donghae!”
