Day 04: 10k

I started working on the bound by blood yesterday. This is the first sequel I've ever written. I've had plenty of sequels planned, but I've never finished the first story in order to get started on the second before. I'm going strong for now, but at certain times I feel like I'm distinctly recapping the events that happened in blood is

I haven't written a sequel before, no. But I've ready loads of them, and while a certain level of recapping is necessary, if it feels like it's too much and it's bogging down the story than it probably is. You should give your readers the benefit of the doubt and think that more often than not they'll already know most of that information. At least, IMO.

Yeah, that makes sense. I just remember I was looking through the nano forums and there was a scary amount of people with the attitude of 'screw the readers, don't recap at all, if they don't know it, it's their own fault' and I thought that was a horrible opinion to have.
