Sequels.

Day 04: 10k

I started working on the bound by blood yesterday. This is the first sequel I've ever written. I've had plenty of sequels planned, but I've never finished the first story in order to get started on the second before. I'm going strong for now, but at certain times I feel like I'm distinctly recapping the events that happened in blood is thicker and I don't know how I feel about it.

I've heard that people who want to get published are better off making each book of the series stand alone. I have no intention of publishing this, but I also believe there will be some time between when I put blood is thicker on the Internet and bound by blood and I don't want people to forget the information from the previous story. I also don't feel like I'm writing any differently than I normally do, trickling information about the world into the narrative, just this time it's information that would already be known if someone had read blood is thicker. (--sidenote--I'm thinking of changing the title from blood is thicker to thick as blood.)

Has anyone written a sequel before or just have some insight on writing or reading one? Are you annoyed when you see recapped information?

challenge: campnano, title: thick as blood, !shapeshifters!, title: bound by blood, writing: ideas
