Recently, I have become obsessed with my name's heritage. I have found that my first and last names are of Scottish descent and my middle name is Hebrew (with the French spelling). Click
here,
here, or
here for the site to find out what your name means.
Mine (Lindsay Anne Morrison) means:
- Lindsay: Island of Linden Trees; Linden Trees Near the Water; Pool Island; Linden Island.
- Anne: Gracious
- Morrison: Son of Morris; Son of Maurice; Son of the Moors; Mary's Servant (which brings me to my next lil bit...)
"Mary's Servant" can be translated, in Scots Gaelic, to "Mhoire" which is used (with "MacGhille") as the equivalent of the last name Morrison. The equivalent of my first name is "Fhionntaig" (please don't ask me how to say that, cuz I'm tellin ya right now -- I don't have a bloody clue.)
SO...my name, technically, is Fhionntaig MacGhille Mhoire. Swedish.
Jamie's name (Jamie Lee Pedersen) is Celtic & Hebrew (Jamie --> James), Old English/Gaelic & Chinese (Lee) and Danish (dur.) and means:
- Jamie/James: Supplanter (one who wrongfully or illegally seizes and holds the place of another) (haha)
- Lee: glade; poet (Gaelic/Old English); plum (Chinese)
- Pedersen: duh. it clearly means Son of Peter. (or in the Danes' case, Peder)
Dontcha feel smarter now, knowing what our names mean? I sure as heck do.
