subtract from that thirty grand, of course, the dept you will be in for that degree. this is why its better to go for something you really like. you have to have a job one way or another... if you dont care about shitty jobs that have their array of shitty ... shit, well, you're not human lol but, some can put up with it more than others.

sean i guess you have to ask yourself... what kind of idea do you have of yourself, or see of yourself in the future. think of your friends and what they are doing. do you get psyched when you think of matej going for his awesome fine art degree? or dan for political science? or jake becoming a math god? or, my humble self attempting to make a career recording music? i mean, we are all making an investment (the dept part) to better ourselves, to see ourselves go somewhere that we like. do those examples make you want to "go" somewhere too?

if not, that's fine. maybe it just ain't for you, but personally i would like to see you study music. if you really want to dedicate yourself it is very rewarding. i always thought it kind of funny, because people say that drugs makes you see music in a new light, but studying music really makes you hear it like i dont know... impossible to describe. you feel like you hear everything in 1000 little pieces and it's very... i don't know... makes you feel powerful, like you can really wield the awesome 'whatever' that is music.

when I think of good drummers; they are all session guys, who have like their masters degrees in 10 instruments and they can play anything you throw at them with masterful quality. it's really quite amazing to be THAT in "tune" with music. it can really become an extra limb when you know it inside and out... i think that is something unique to music that other art can't touch.

so if that sounds cool... go study music! if not, well, don't lol. studying music requires a lot of dedication. not that i know from experience, i'm not in a music program like that (like what temple has), but i know from people i know, who do know from experience. (my brother being one of them, he was duel majoring in music and english for a while; had to pick one because it was just ridiculously intense... unfortunately (i think so at least) he chose english because of some lack of confidence perhaps and he probably regrets it)... i mean basically that studying music is something i think would probably rule your life to a pretty big extent if you were to get a lot out of it, but you will get a lot out of it.

so for music, id say, if you want to do it, be prepared to sacrifice. i dont wanna scare you out of it im just being realistic. i think it would be totally awesome to see you some day as a session drummer, drumming on all kindsa cool nigs' shit.

if you want to get a band going, then don't go to school, get the band going. but same thing, have to be prepared to sacrifice a lot of fun and free time. fortunately, if you did want to do that, i might be able to help you out some along the way as far as recording time goes. plus, itd be cool to work together.

and well, hey, that should happen regardless :-). even if it aint ruling your life, come make music and record with me!

lol well anyhow, i hope my rant was somewhat helpful.

also; if you did want to get a band going, you could still go to school. being an amazing, musically trained drummer will help you get into any band you want, and being in the program would help you meet other dedicated people if you wanted to start one up.

i mean of course if those around you dont want to embark on the same journey, but it sounds like they might. still thought id throw the idea out there.
