Title: Sparks Fly
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Taylor Swift/Emma Stone
Summary: Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down. 'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile.
Disclaimer: Taylor Swift and Emma Stone are obviously real people, and can not be owned. I own nothing.
When she had called her up and told her the news herself, she didn’t quite believe it. It felt only days ago that they were laughing at all the crazy girl fans dropping to his feet, and now she was one of them. But she would never tell her that, she sounds too happy.
“I’m happy for you Lena.” She tries to sound as happy as she’s supposed to, but somehow she can’t muster it up.
“Thanks Tay-Tay. It means a lot coming from you.” Taylor will never admit how much that phone call hurt. Or how much that phone call broke her heart.
She doesn’t remember the exact moment it happened, but she fell and she fell hard for her best friend. After it happening with Drew, and that ending badly, Taylor vowed to never do it again, but the heart wants what the heart wants. And at that moment in time, it wanted Selena. Bad. But it was like history repeating itself. All she ends up with is another friend happy, and another scar. But unlike the last times, she doesn’t have another best friend to fall back on. Of course she has other friends, but none that would know what she’s going through. Well that was until she met her.
“You know hundreds of people get their heart broken in a day. What makes you think you’re so special?” Taylor looks up at her through a teary gaze and when she meets equally red rimmed, puffy eyes she can’t help but crack a smile.
“Who said anything about me being special?” The red head cracks a wide smile on her freckled face.
“Hmm…guess that was just me.” Taylor doesn’t try and stop the giggle that escapes her, and when she hears a slightly lower laugh join her, her giggle turns into a full laugh.
“Hi, I’m Emma Stone.” ‘Her hands are so warm.’ Is the first thought that pops into Taylor’s mind as she accepts the hand stretched towards her.
“Taylor S-
“Swift. Yes, I know.” She still has a gentle smile on, and the hand she’s still shaking is still warm.
“Sorry.” A pink tinge appears on the curly blonde’s cheeks as she draws her hand back into her lap.
“It’s ok, I figured your hands are cold and you could use my nice hot ones.” The way she popped hot made Taylor laugh and the blush to drop from her cheeks.
“You’re right. My hands are freezing and I notice yours are very…”
“Hot?” Sparkling blue meets dancing green.
“Yes. Very much so.” This time Emma’s laughing and Taylor’s joining in. As she watches the laughter sparkle in her eyes, Taylor can’t help but notice how much it looks like sparks dancing off the ground as a firework soars into the sky.
“You wanna get some coffee? Maybe warm your hands up so they don’t freeze off and disappoint millions and billions of fans?” There’s a hand stretched out in front of her, and her brain is telling her that she shouldn’t rush into things, or make hasty decisions, but her heart is already moving her hand into Emma’s hot one.
“Billions?” She’s smiling again, and the sparks are flying as she helps her to her feet.
“Of course.” She doesn’t let her hand go until she’s opening the door to Starbucks for her.

And they sat in that deserted Starbucks talking for hours about nothing, and everything. Taylor didn’t have to voice her reason for the tears earlier, because Emma already seemed to know. It’s amazing how well she knows her from such a short amount of time talking, and if this was anyone else she would already be running in the other direction, because the last time she let someone get close like Emma is now, it ended in another heartbreak, another scar, and she isn’t sure if her heart can handle another break. But oddly enough Taylor already knows running would be a waste of time, she’s already captivated. And as they still sit there, just close enough to touch, they talk about things that Taylor has guarded from the rest of the world because she feels oddly, comfortable talking about them with her. She isn’t sure if it’s the soft hand on hers, or the sparkling green gaze that never seems to leave her mind, but she doesn’t question it.

“Tay? Taylor!” Taylor snaps her eyes open at the sound of distress, but Emma’s there and laying a hot hand on her cheek.
“Whoa, it’s only me.” Taylor falls back onto the pillows, making her messy curls fly every which way. Emma lets out a soft giggle in return before picking up one of the curls to twirl around her finger.
“What are you yelling for?” Emma gives the twirl around her finger a soft yank, which earns a pout from the blonde.
“Cause you’re about to miss your best friend’s surprise if you don’t get up in about thirty seconds!” Realization dawns on Taylor, and she all but trips in her haste to get out of bed and down into the living room. Emma follows in a calmer fashion behind her, and when she rounds onto the couch, she doesn’t think twice to plop down with her head in the blonde musician’s lap.
“Did she tell you what this was for?” Fingers easily glide through red hair as blue eyes stay transfixed on the TV before them.
“Just because.”
“I hope you’ve all had a great time tonight, but sadly this is the last song. Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to my best friend Taylor. I haven’t seen her in a while and this is me saying I still love you.” The opening to Who Says begins and Taylor can’t help but smile as her friend begins singing for her.
“Aw, you hear that babe? I told you she wasn’t mad. Just busy.” Emma’s rolled onto her back, and is now looking up at her with those sparkling green eyes, that never fail to leave her mind.
“Who was right?” Taylor rolls her eyes, but the smile on her face shows Emma she’s right.
“You are.”
“And what do winners get?” Blue meets green and it’s all either one of them sees.
“Rewards.” The smirk that reaches across Emma’s face leaves Taylor slightly worried.
“Exactly, my reward.” She taps her lips with a finger, and Taylor only laughs and shakes her head.
“Oh of course.” She eagerly bends down to give her lady her reward. But Emma has other ideas.
As soon as soft lips find a matching pair, a tan hand creeps up a pale waist and gives a soft yank that sends the tall blonde rolling onto her. She breaks the kiss with a soft ‘Oh’ but Emma’s already leaning back in and slipping a gentle tongue through parted lips. And the way she makes her tongue roll with hers never fails to leave Taylor breathless.
“Love you.” Taylor kisses the smirk off her face and only pulls back far enough to rest her forehead against hers.
“Love you too.” And the sparks fly as that smile stretches across her lightly freckled face. Taylor can only give her, her own sparkling blue gaze, one that Emma is falling for. Fast.
