My gas stove...

Oct 16, 2010 02:56

Reminds me of my grandmother's house in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

That smell of natural gas just always triggers off this memory of my 11th birthday party in 1989. I had recieved some sort of laser tag dealio as a birthday present, and i remembered the next day we walked Stone Mountain all the way to the top. I remember them cooking on the stove as it was Thanksgiving weekend. That gas stench filled the entire house.

Now, it's 2010. Mid October in North Florida.

There's a chill in the air, so I decieded to fire up one of the burners and hover over it for a minute for warmth.

The young version of me would've thought how the blue flame hovering above the burner would've made a cool picture...

but the almost 32 y/o version of me wonders how much the gas bill will be next month.

Adulthood robs you of some serious creative powers. But you have to fight that much harder to hold onto it.

I gotta say though....gas stoves suck. No timers, no electronic interfaces (at least mine) nothing. Plus an extra utility bill.

I dont cook much so it's benefits are wasted.

night!
