Day three of being a girl, and though the novelty had, by this time, worn a little thin, Chuck hadn't yet entirely lost his patience with it. It could hardly last much longer, and he was still determined to embrace his policy of enjoying it while it lasted. Serena never could say no to a gathering of her friends, and the addition of Chuck's present didn't hurt either. The circumstances were stranger than usual, true, but after a few days, it was easy enough to deal with. She wasn't the one, after all, who had to handle a new set of parts. Having mixed herself a drink, she started wandering around to check on the others.

Eric was trying not to abandon Cassie for long periods of time, but he'd made sure she had a fresh drink and promised he'd return shortly before making his way to Serena's side with a drink of his own in his hand. "Hey."

"Hey," Serena said cheerfully, immediately more conscious of the drink in her hand and her intent to only have the one. In her way, she was grateful for it. There were still times she needed the reminder. "How's your friend doing?" With Beat so intent on keeping a low profile, she hadn't thought it necessary to bring him along tonight. He had enough to deal with, given this whole situation, without handling her friends right now.

"Cassie? She's...a bit weirded out, but she's doing okay, I think. A lot of her friends are changed too, and it sounds like things are kind of..." Tense? Awkward? "...You know. So I thought I'd bring her along so she could just relax and not worry about it for a bit." Eric glanced over to where Cassie stood, looking a little uncomfortable but at least smiling.

"Good," Serena said, nodding, "I'm glad. I mean, not that she's worried, but that she's here." They had needed something like this, Cassie and Chuck and Nate most of all probably, but all of them - a night off, a bit of relaxation, a drink, dear lord. After the month they'd had, they deserved it. Shaking off the pang that accompanied that thought, she smiled. "She'll be alright. It can't last much longer, right?"

"That's what I keep telling her," Eric said with a grin. "That's how these things go around here, right? Just a few days?"

Serena nodded. "I mean, that whole weird Halloween thing was only a day and this has been, what, three now?" It was difficult, uncomfortable, to think that it could last much longer. "She just has to hold out a little longer."

"I hope so. I don't think she's all that thrilled to be a boy," Eric observed with a rueful smile. "Anyway, I should probably get back to her. Him. I--don't really have the vocabulary to cover this sort of thing," he finished with a little laugh.

Serena laughed, trying for one brief moment to hide that she was doing so. Poor Cassie had enough to deal with without that. "Cassie," she suggested, smiling. "Just Cassie. Or her. She's still a girl, just... disguised." It was something she'd been telling herself since this whole thing started.

"Yeah, well. For a girl she makes a pretty nice boy," Eric observed distractedly as he watched her. He seemed to realize what he'd said and looked back to Serena with a sheepish grin. "...Who's still a girl. Right."

Serena blinked, eyes slightly narrowed at that, smile bemused. "Still a girl," she agreed with an arch of an eyebrow. "And probably will be one again... oh, tomorrow? Day after?" It couldn't be longer than that, which, she couldn't help thinking, was probably for the best, with that little note of distraction in Eric's expression, like he was having the exact opposite problem she was having. Beat made a pretty girl and all, and it sure wasn't stopping her, but she'd happy when it was all back to normal.

And it kind of was a problem for just that reason. Coupled with the fact that Cassie had a boyfriend already it was a recipe for trouble if Eric let himself go too far down that road of thinking. "Yeah, I know. Probably not soon enough for her." He smiled and gave Serena a look that told her not to worry, he wasn't going to do anything stupid like fall for his female friend while she was a male. It didn't preclude a bit of natural curiosity though, did it?

"Yeah, well, I think five minutes after it happened probably wouldn't have been soon enough," Serena said with a sympathetic laugh. "At least when I was five, I was still a girl." That she could say these things now as if they were normal, natural, was probably the most worrying part.

"...Good point." Eric laughed and nodded. "Although I don't know...it might be interesting to be a girl for a few days. As long as I knew I'd change back." He looked over at Cassie, then at Chuck. "Or maybe I'll just ask Chuck for details."

Serena laughed, wrinkling up her nose and shaking her head, hands waving. "Ask Nate," she said. "If you ask Chuck, he'll tell you, and I don't think you'll ever be able to forget."

"Good point. I'll keep that in mind," Eric said, grinning. Of course, he still might ask Chuck what it was like after it was all over, but only if he really anted to know.

"All right, I'm going to go check on Cassie. I'll talk to you later," he added, giving Serena a fond smile.
