“I’m looking for Cordelia Chase?”

Cordelia was behind the desk at Angel Investigations, flipping through one of the research books. When she heard her name, she turned around, but the person there was not what she was expecting. “Hello salty goodness,” she said softly, before shaking her head. “I mean, Hi. I’m Cordelia.”

Then he decided to not help her out. At all. “I’m Oliver Queen.” He grinned, a slow, lazy expression that stretched across his face and made her go just a little weak in the knees. Clearly this man was a manipulative jerk who she shouldn’t even bother to give the time of day, and yet here she was, matching the grin and leaning in closer.

“How can I help you?”

“I hear you’ve got a special … talent.” He leaned forward on the counter. “I have it from a very reliable source that you have … visions?”

Her smile didn’t falter. She was actually quite proud of herself for that. There wasn’t a whole lot a person can do when she had a secret that she needed to keep. “Can’t say that I know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh really?” he said with a smirk. “So you don’t get flashes of the future from some kind of omnipotent source?”

“I don’t know who you’ve been talking to, but Nostradamus I am not.” That’s when she felt it. The tickle of an oncoming vision in the back of her brain. “I think you should go. We’re closed for business right now.”

“But-the door was open,” he frowned, pointing at her as she started to push him back out it. “If you’re closed, you really should learn to lock it.”

“Ha. Cute. Could you please just-” And that’s when it hit her like a bullet to the brain. “-Crap.”

After that was a bit of a blur, as most visions usually were. The only things she could make out were the handsome stranger in the lobby, and the vampire that Angel had been tracking for nearly a week. When she started to come to, Oliver was leaning over her, looking concerned.

“Cordelia? You alright?”

He had caught her. This boy needed to stop earning brownie points.

“Me? Peachy.” She sat up resting a hand on his strong and broad shoulders-did this guy have any flaws? At all?-and let out a slow breath. “But ... I’m starting to rethink that whole you leaving thing. Can I get you a cup of coffee?”

“ … Sure. Do I want to know why?”

“Probably not.” She pushed to her feet, and flashed him a wide smile. “But trust me, when I say that it’s really going to work in your favor.”
