Getting apprehensive

My start date at Microsoft has been set for April 9. It seems so close and yet so far away - in many ways I wish it would just be over. I've slowly started packing, mostly just to decide what to take and what to leave. Mum is of the opinion that Microsoft is paying for my relocation so I should just take everything, but I want to try to cut down to only the things I really would regret not taking.

I've also started apartment and furniture/interior decorating browsing. I'm looking to get a studio apartment in central Redmond. I have two months corporate housing when I first arrive, as well as one month car hire. I'm sure I'll need to buy a car after that, but it seems such an irritating expense. I'm not looking forward to sitting another driving test to get my Washington state license either.

Giving away my things has been quite liberating so far, but realistically I've barely even started. I think I need to mercilessly cull my wardrobe now that the weather is cooling down. If anyone (Perth based) reading this wants any of my possessions, speak up now! I have quite a stash of fabric and yarn that needs a loving home.
