[Kelly's talking from his office at the restaurant today. The computer screen behind him shows what looks like a flyer design, the words 'FOOD-OFF' in large letters at the top, and there's the sound of a printer running in the background.]
Anyone out there like good food? I'm hoping a lot of you, because I'm looking for a lot of judges.
My name's Kelly, for those of you that don't know, and I run a restaurant here called Land's End. We aim to serve food that's as real as possible, which I thought was a pretty unique claim, until I heard about this little joint call The Pie Hole. They only serve pies over there, but competition is competition, right?
So Ned and I have decided to turn it into a real competition, which is where you all come in:
We're having a food-off, down on the beach, Monday. Starts at noon. Come along, try the food, vote for who you prefer -- which will obviously be me, because everyone likes shrimp and no one likes pie.
[He knows exactly how incorrect that statement is, which might show in his smile, but it's all in the name of the game.]
And if you don't know either of us, it's still free food. [He pauses, laughs slightly, realising that statement doesn't hold as much weight in Promenade.] Realish free food, that is.
[filtered to staff:]
Any of you free, I need to ask a favour. [He turns to reach behind him, bringing back a large pile of flyers to show to the camera.] I've got a lot of these that need to be stuck up around town.
