[When Vanille's PORTAL turns on, it does so without her meaning to. The silly thing has fallen out of her little skirt pouch and is broadcasting a lot of noise without her knowledge. In fact, the PORTAL almost gets an up the skirt shot but then she's moving and there are a lot of possibly very misleading noises.]

There aren't a lot of people who like people who can do what I did where I'm from so, yep, makes you sweet!

They're things from where I'm from. They're l'Cie who failed their Focus and turned into monsters. If I left them for a really long time they'd probably turn into a Cie'th stone.

I don't think we have I'Cie, either. Is focus some kind of test?

People can't really do the thing I did with the thunder. l'Cie are Pulse-tainted rats.

It's sort of a test for the l'Cie. The Fal'Cie brand us as l'Cie and give us a Focus, monsters to fight or some task to complete. If we don't do it in time, we fail and turn into a monster and then if nothing kills that monster and we wander forever and turn into a stone that cries out for help.

So, they taint you, give you some kind of mission, then turn you into a monster for the next lot of testees if you fail? That sounds kinda harsh. Give me a SPEW any day.

State Prescribed Educational Worthiness test. We just have to write down the answers and hope they match up to the marking scheme. Kind of boring, but at least it's not life or death.
