[It's taken him some time to stop staring at the mirror. He awoke in this strange room with no memory of arriving, and after looking around a little, saw the mirror--and her face. She smiles at him through the mirror, takes his hand and leads him through the forest, the last place he remembers before coming here. She even talks to him--he can see her mouth move.
It drives him crazy that he can't hear her voice.
But finally, her face is gone from the mirror's sight, and it's broken the damn thing's spell on him. Now he's exploring the bare yellow room, apparently empty but for some furniture and two things: a mask and a book. The mask is a beautiful, elegant thing, black and shaped somewhat like a wolf's face, silver markings along the nose and eyes. The book is in the same black leather with engraved silver markings, which form a crest he doesn't recognize, and a word: PORTAL. He opens it, and a slip of paper falls out.]
"You are not safe here..." What?
