I'm glad someone is finally speaking out against the Oscars situation! Anyone who knows me, know I am a huge feminist, so I was more than a little upset that the Oscars decided they "needed" to make a big statement by giving Kathryn Bigelow an Oscar. It's really upsetting to me that she only got her Oscar because she is a woman and it's actually more upsetting that Barbara Streisand was the one to give her the Oscar seeing as Barbara deserved to get an Oscar for her own directing skills. I was really astounded after the Oscars when I saw all the supposed feminist cheering at the fact that Kathryn had gotten the Oscar, knowing full well that she only got it because she was a woman. I'm not saying that Kathryn's not a great director or that her movie wasn't really good, but it wasn't so great that she deserved an Oscar for it. I'm sorry if you don't agree with me, but I don't think there is anyone who can clearly look at this past Oscars and tell me that she didn't receive the Oscar because she was a woman.
