Cultural values are important and diversity is respected, but so much culture that it incites racism is terrible. Yeah take comfort that there are others here that share your feelings and understand what it is like to have to assimilate into a new country. But culture doesnt define a person. It isn't the thing that makes someone good or bad, that is the person itself. We can't help what we are born into, we have no choice what we look like, what color we are, how tall we are, how big or small our eyes are. We should be able to take pride that we are people and we have the same opportunities as everyone around us. It isn't fair to tell someone you don't like them when you don't even know them. They aren't the same culture, that means they aren't as good of a person? What does culture have to do with morality? what does it have to do with humanity? It is just something that developed in different regions, it is a celebration so that we aren't purely functional.
I'm inbetween two different cultures. One culture tells me that only that culture is a good one, and the other culture tells me that all dispositions can be equal in goodness. Which one will i choose and hope to assimilate completely into? I think its obvious. Minorities are so afraid that everyone around them is racist against them, when they are actually racist themselves.
I hate this.
When you seclude yourself from the rest of the world, you lose the opportunity to explore something wonderful.
I know because I've found something. And it's wonderful. And I wouldn't give it up for all the racist people in the world.
