Some anime & music ranting

It's been a while since I've posted from home. Lately I've just been doing it at work. XD

I watched the first ep of The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk, which GONZO themselves subbed and uploaded for free onto crunchyroll.com and YouTube. This is their latest approach to defending themselves against the impacts of fansubbing, and it'd be interesting to see how it goes. Free legal streaming anime is good, and the subs were in perfect English. ^^ But anyway, the show itself is really funny. From the synopsis it seems like a serious, mediocre show, but actually it's a fantasy parody of sorts that made me lol a lot of times. If I was into comedy anime more, I'd probably follow it, but I'm going to see what else comes out this season first. I also watched another new GONZO show, Blassreiter, in which they collaborated with Nitro+, a game studio famous for their hentai games (with really nice character designs ^^;;). This show is very heavy on CG, to the point I felt like I was watching a game at numerous points. It seems to be about some sort of futuristic covert team who, on their motorbikes, fight weird ninja-like CG machine creatures. Yeah...not really my thing.

I really like Shimamiya Eiko's new album Hikari Nadeshiko. I think she's my favorite solo artist from I've Sound. Her songs have this awesome feel to them: a nice mix of the low assembly trance I've Sound is known for, and a mysterious, sometimes melancholy, edge. Plus she writes her own lyrics and her PVs tend to be the most interesting amongst the I've girls. Her one for Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is one of my favorite PVs. It's so creepy and fits the show perfectly. She even used a mask prop which is very fitting and reminds me of the first shot of Rika in the anime OP. ^^ (Here's a link to the PV if anyone is interested ^^: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v1342458ah9b279f). I like KOTOKO too, but lately her songs have been too hyper/genki, and I don't like them as much as her serious stuff. Also, sometimes I prefer the maturity in Eiko's voice, as opposed to KOTOKO's ultra-cute one.

Anyway, it's getting late. Will post more about weekend/stuffs tomorrow at work maybe. XD
