So, I just read a very long, very detailed review of the early OOTP screenings that were done in Chicago last week and I wish I hadn't now. I was really looking forward to this movie, really looking forward to all the potential for great Harry/Ginny moments that this film presented but once again it seems we H/G shippers will be getting the frakking shaft!
There are some spoilers ahead so if you don't want to be disillusioned like me...stop here....
It appears that the director and the screen writer didn't read OOTP or HBP, because they apparently have left out any and all Harry/Ginny interaction/friendship/foreshadowing from the film.
There will be no chocolate in the library which will mean that it won't be Ginny suggesting the plan for Harry to talk to Sirius ( who wants to bet Hermione will come up with the plan?)and there will be no "Lucky you!" comment from Ginny when Harry is doing is "You're all looking at me!" whining which leads me to assume that the rest of her confrontation with Harry in that scene was not included either.
For those of us that read the books and know that Harry and Ginny's relationship has been building slowly over the last few books it won't matter, because we know the feelings are there, but for those sad bastards who haven't read the books they are going to get to movie 6 and be clueless as to why Harry is suddenly hopelessly in love with Ginny...a girl who has barely been IN the movies at all! It seems from the review that I read that Luna will play a bigger part in this movie than Ginny will and I don't understand how the writers/directors think that makes sense?!
According to the review I read Ginny (once again!) has very few lines and basically contributes nothing to the storyline which really pisses me off to no end! They don't even let her introduce LUNA for Christ's sake! Guess who gets that job? Wait for it....wait for it...you guessed it...HERMIONE! Why can't they just have the character who said the lines in the frakking book say them in the film? How hard is that? Why must Emma Watson be given everyone's lines and everyone's scenes in this movies?
It's getting to the point where I hope Hermione dies in book 7...like in chapter 1, so that I won't have to listen to Emma Watson stealing anyone's lines in THAT FRAKKING MOVIE because her character will be dead for most of it!
Honestly, I had such high hopes for this film after seeing GOF-which also did a great job of cutting Ginny out now that I think about it- but I should have known that they wouldn't actually make this one the right way. It's like they make these films in a vaccum, with no thought to the fact that there are thigs that NEED to be foreshadowed, things that NEED to be hinted at because there are more books out there, that have already been read by millions of fans. The story isn't a stand alone, it doesn't simply end when their film does. They needed to be making these movies with an eye to what was yet to come, but they haven't and if I was an author and they did THIS crap to my story I would be very disappointed indeed in the films.
This was really not what I needed today! I already feel like crap because everything is blooming and my allergies are kicking my ass! I should just stick to reading fanfiction! At least there I know that people are faithful to canon!
