I had a weekend between my meetings!

On Friday night my project manager kindly offered to give me a lift from work into town... Despite my aversion to public transport I should remember that the corporate bus system is actually quite good and driving took about 3 times as long. I've also this morning worked out how to get to work by council bus should I miss the last corporate bus even if it does mean a walk in the sunshine. I eventually got to town though just in time to find a weary looking Das Boy stuck in a giant crowd of waiting diners at Fujiya who glared at us as we got our booked table and they were left waiting. Tasty sushi, a walk in the rain, a failed attempt to find somewhere quiet for a drink before giving up and going home. Mikey managed to fall asleep within about 5 minutes of sitting on the bed and I thought "Stupid Mikey, I wanted to stay up, I think I'll just play Zzzzzzz..." and we both woke up at 3am with me still clutching my DS.

Saturday was fairly uneventful, chores and the usual guff before gearing up for Bloodlust. I had some slight fashion failure but in the end everyone was complimentary so we can put it down to my head crazies. At first I was rather confused as the dancers seemed... well unexciting... and at that point I realised that the group I was watching was meant to be encouraging others to dance rather than being an actual performance. Eventually people worked themselve out and got on the dancefloor, and the line between living stage props and actual performers became more obvious. The Carnival atmosphere certainly held up with plenty of jugglers, poi twirlers and acrobatic dancing.... though the clown missed getting a platform boot somewhere unpleasant by the slimmest of margins. Should such a thing happen again I guess I'd like to see more acrobats, stage magicians and other similar entertainment rather than the Fire Twirler + Burlesque performances we see at a lot of these 'dark' events.

My sad fan girlesque highlight of the night has to have been spotting a familiar face across the room and trepidatiously asking if I was correct only to find out that indeed I was talking to Doug Bayne who many of you may know as Mephisto on Double the Fist. Not only did we get to discuss the upcoming 2nd season (Fist Worthy!) but I also discovered that Doug dates Trudy the illustrious creator of Platinum Grit. So some drunken discussion later and I have some more contacts for the magazine, a very silly photograph and a warm sense of fangirl satisfaction.

A lot of people had a big fat whinge about the changes to the licence but really I think it worked in favour of the night, because people went home or elsewhere before their fashion got ruined, their livers got damaged and the night ended on a high. There was a required exodus to the Townie where the goths and geeks took over and the drunkenning began in earnest, followed by a trek home via the Surprise Cupcake shop and some far too late into the morning lounge room shenanigans with the other Trashhouse residents.

All in all a grand night, even if you could see surprisingly little of lillim's boobies (though the abundance of other people's and the attention paid to mine may have helped here).
