Something to read... Draco/Hermione

Jan 11, 2009 12:49

This is my Draco/Hermione fic rec list. It's not comprehensive. I'm just adding them as they come to me. And they are not in any order.

1. Gravity by floorcoaster
It's about arranging stacks of books, wall colours, and jumping off a cliff.

2. The Fallout by Sage (everythursday)
Hermione learns about growing up through the redemption of Draco Malfoy.

3. Between Forgetting and Remembering by ilkee (me!)
The sea is like his memories. Insistent, unforgiving, exquisite. (Okay, yes, I know it's completely egocentric and awful to have my own story here in the top ten, but I fucking LOVE this story, and even now, when I go back and read it, it still affects me. And I think you should read it too. Warning for angst.)

4. A Dowry of a Single Galleon by krissy (bunney)
My take on the Marriage Law challenge. Draco, after a confrontation with Hermione in Diagon Alley, claims her as his new bride, much to her dismay.

5. The Cellar Door by somandalicious
Her love is the finest of insanity. Idiosyncratic and wistful.

6. Cold Comfort by Kyra4
a hint of sadness, with Draco and Hermione together at the end.

7. More Than Anything by dynonugget
The sound of his name coming from her lips made Draco close his eyes.He was stirred somewhere in his soul, and for the first time since he had returned to Hogwarts, could honestly say he was glad he came back. Post-war story.

8. The Dragon's Bride by rizzle
7th year. Draco and Hermione awaken in a Muggle hotel room, naked, hung-over and tattooed. They also happen to be married. Thus begin a desperate search for a solution to their sticky situation. After all, who in their right mind would want to be married to Draco Malfoy? Surely not Hermione…

9. The Symmetrical Transit by Sage (everythursday)
He believed the world was screwed up because a lack of balance. Everything in the world had it's equal parts -- love, hate; right, left; sun, moon; drive, laziness -- but no one ever grew up with these parts in the same proportion, which made them off. People were either forced to live discordant, or they were lucky enough to find that balance through someone else.

10. Out of the Silent Planet by ianthe_waiting
Post-Hogwarts - Hermione Granger fulfills Severus Snape's final wish, to journey to Japan to ‘retrieve' something of importance and from there begins a long journey of discoveries, angst and much self introspection. Set eleven years after HBP.

As you can imagine, with the sheer number of incredible Dramione strories out there, this list would be rather difficult to come up with. But, I'll be honest, I didn't think too hard about it. These are the stories that have had a profound effect on me, as a writer and as a person. A lot of them are "classics" and they set the bar for excellent writing. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
