Vurrk
Today i had work from 8am-8pm. Im doing a month of full time CCT( critical care transport) shifts. When we get a call it comes from dispatch and is never a code 3 (lights7sirens) call. The call is usually someone in intensive care, or on a ventalaotr, or a baby in an incubator that needs to go to a better hospital. So instead of a normal Advanced Life Support ambulance team( Emt+Paramedic) its a CCT team, which is two Emt's and a Nurse.
The nurses usually travel all over the country and stay a week at a time. This means when they come they get a hotel room. So usually the three of them chill in the room till, or if they get a call. This week we had a husband and wife nurse crew(from utah). The shifts are twelve hour shifts so, she gets day and he gets night..But they get their own room and buy the Emt's our own room. Two beds and tv. SO......This whole month Ill be doing 12 hour days of sleeping, watching TV, eating good continental breakfast, reading, internet-ting, using the hotel gym,sleeping, eating, and if I get lucky I'll get a call for a transport. But its rare to get two calls in a shift, let alone one..
so thats my day, most days. BUT on January 11th I go BACK to the streets. I've been working Salinas, or as I call it the " knife and gun club".. seriously, gangs, stop that shit..but ya, i have enjoyed it, but my new shift from Jan-Jun will be 9am-9pm, Sun, Tues, Thurs and alternating Sats. in Monterey, PacificGrove, Carmel, Seaside, Marina. Not bad for a new guy. And my partner is a cool new guy too. So we should have fun scoopin people up and going.
