Ally catches up on Once Upon A Time

So I've not been doing my weekly reviews lately, I suck. So guess what? I'm gonna do them all right now! The last we left off I had done the first ep, now enjoy as I go through all the episodes that have followed. These are just a brief write-up and my thoughts on each one.

We Are Both - This episode found the show taking a different turn by not relying on Emma and Snow so much, which I liked! It proved that the Storybrooke cast is still a damn fine cast without their leading ladies. Also I loved how they divided their time between present day/present FTL and flashbacks, it's really good.

Having said that I have one nitpick and it is that I find Regina/Rumple together really boring. Their scenes didn't interest me at all, I'm a bad fan D:

Things I loved:

+ Grandpa!David and Henry
+ David's speech
+ Regina's clothing
+ Ruby's gorgeous face
+ David threatening Jefferson
+ David twirling his sword
+ Gold getting all bitchy that he can't go out and look for Bae cuz of the curse
+ Geppetto/Marco going to find August/Pinocchio only to find him gone! D:

I didn't actually love that last part but aww, my feels.

The Lady of the Lake - Wonderful, Perfect episode, best so far! I really kind of loved this one, we got to see more of FTL and we met Lancelot who was awesome and Emma realised she actually was loved and she and Snow had a moving hug, aw.

In flashback FTL we learned what we knew already, that King George is a dick! Now I like Alan Dale but he is always such a dick in everything D: He cursed Snow so she couldn't have children but that gets fixed later by Lancelot, yay him!

Things I loved:

+ Lancelot, I hope he's not really dead!
+ Emma eating Chimera and comparing it to turducken
+ Snow's old timey hunting outfit thingy with the dress and the top and the pants, perfection!
+ Jefferson's reunion with Grace! OMG feels! Now we need an August/Marco reunion, RIGHT NOW.
+ Snow and Charming's lakeside wedding, loooove!
+ Snow/Emma huggies!
+ Charming/Henry bonding!

Now a lot of people say that Henry is an asshole cuz he ditched Regina at the diner. Meh, he's a kid and he thinks going through her stuff is going to get his mum back so deal with it.

The Crocodile - Even though it was our introduction to Hook, it was still kind of an off episode for me. Perhaps it's cuz I'm not real fond of Rumpelstilskin? That is probably it. I will say this though, his ~wife~ was a biiiitch. I bet they had an arranged marriage, it was obvious she didn't want to be there, or be Bae's mum. As for Rumpel/Belle it was still more plausible but Belle's accent though still grates. It shouldn't bother me I mean I am Australian like she is, just...why?!

Things I did not like:

+ Rumpel being Hook's crocodile and taking his hand. No.
+ I don't like that Hook is all revenge planny over Milah, she didn't seem that great.

Things I did like:

+ Ruby/Belle frienship!
+ David mining
+ Gold asking Charming for dating advice
+ Charming being the acting sheriff while Emma is away.

The Doctor - The one I've been waiting for! Doctor Whale's origin story! This one was actually pretty epic and it made me learn that yes I do like Regina flashbacks, just not when she's with Rumpel, damn it! For the majority of this episode she was with Jefferson and the Doctor and mmm yeah, she was much more watchable in their presence.

Things I loved:

+ The Doctor's/Jefferson's/Regina's outfits
+ Charming punching Whale in the faaaace
+ Regina going to therapy/More Archie!
+ Hook, cuz you know he's awesome
+ Regina's face
+ The end scene in Whale's home world
+ IT'S SCIENCE!

Some things that catch my interest with this episode include - will we get to see Dr. Whale's brother? Regina said she brought who she wanted to bring to Storybrooke, who else did she bring?! Also Emma needs to stop with the whole 'I can tell when people are lying to me' thing, no she can't! She is damn horrible at it actually!

Tallahassee - In this episode we looked into Emma's past to find her being the Bonnie to Neal's Clyde and it was quite amusing actually. Emma looked so cute in her glasses. The story this week was more focused on the FTL and Emma and Hook's retrieval of the compass which I liked! The make a good team.

Things I loved:

+ Hook, again
+ Snow bonding with Aurora over bad dreams
+ Emma being smart for once and getting the giant to keep Hook while they got a head start
+ Emma/August feels!!! Cruddiest guardian angel ever but at least he was trying! Plus he looked good! Still waiting on my Marco/August reunion!
+ Hipster Criminal Emma!
+ Charming lighting a candle for Henry, aww.

A couple of things seem off about this episode, 1. When did August have the time to send Neal that postcard in the first episode? Wasn't he still a wooden boy then? 2. What is up with Aurora/Henry's dreams? That is kind of freaky. 3. I am having my doubts that Neal is Baelfire. Sure I know he wouldn't outright say he believed in magic and so on but I just don't get the feel that he is. I think August told him the whole story and he believed it for Emma's sake but is he really Baelfire? I'm not sure. 4. What did Bael show him to get him to believe, hmm?

A Red episode next week, I can't wait!
