When with a 4-1 loss, our goal keeper is our best player by a million miles, there's something really rather fucked up with our team. The defense looked like they'd never seen each other before, Rooney looked unfit and Capello brings on Heskey when we need three goals to win in twenty minutes ( Read more... )

Completely agree with everything you said, babes. I don't understand why Capello rejected the likes of Walcott and Agbonlahor, and instead selected Heskey. Heskey?!? Dude's two ticks away from a Zimmerframe. His 'fresh' legs are probably less effective that Walcott's tired ones.

And why the hell was Terry being played on the right?!?

It was a mess...a mess, I tell you!

I'm just miserable. :-(

Walcott should have been in the squad but Capello didn't even use Crouch when he had him right there on the bench. Instead he sends on Heskey, who's never been any good for England.

Agree about Terry. Both him and Gerrard were playing in the wrong positions. They didn't look happy and it affected their game.

Even so, world class players....? Can anyone seriously compare Rooney to someone like Messi now?

*sigh*

I'll join you in being miserable.

What a disaster! It was like watching a car crash-only in slow motion-you don't want to look, but something about it makes you continue watching. England only played well in the range of the fifteen minutes or so when they scored the two goals. I was furious that the second goal wasn't allowed, it very obviously went over the line by a foot or more. I think this disheartened the English team to an extent ( ... )

Alright, I can get behind Argentina and Spain, etc, but not Ghana, since they were the ones who sent us home. *sniffles*

But yeah, I have a feeling that a lot of those players are going to be facing some very hostile fans when they come home. Seamus almost never curses, but he definitely makes up for it when watching the World Cup. Apparently, he felt there were a lot of athletes who played like "cock-sucking wank stains". (!!!!) The *language* on my sweet man! ;-)

As for me, I'm just going to root for whomever is playing Germany, because if we can't have a win, then revenge is second-best. :-)

Hey, I love Ghana! They're my default team as the only African entrants left. Go, Black Stars!!! *waves Green, Gold & Red Flag*

Hee! His speech is delightfully colourful, no? ;-)

I just lurve the way you're now British by default, Dawnie! *tackle-hugs*

Oh, I couldn't continue watching. After their third goal, I just gave up. I couldn't watch us taking such a hammering. It was just so humiliating.

The German team did just play so much better. We made it easy for them by leaving the back wide open but they were definitely faster and much more up for it then we were.

Lampard, I think did better then any of the rest would do. I think he was allowed to take them simply because he practiced them more then anyone else in the training sessions.

Oh, I know the press will start blaming Capello but you're right this is not just about the coach. How many have we had since '66? It can't always be their fault. No, we have to face facts and ask some hard questions about the players who failed to gel as a team.

I get where you boyfriend is coming from and I'm just puzzled. How can they play so well against world class players at club level and then crumble when they play for their country?!

...and hope that England will win the World Cup or get to semi finals of the World Cup at least once in ( ... )

I'm so sorry, hun. *cuddles*

you and babydee1 are both "abysmally" depressed. :( I'm sorry.

But i can't help but feel amused at the differences in responses. When America lost yesterday, we were like, "oh well, that fucking sucked! Fuck soccer!" and we all just moved on!

Ah...wait until you catch the bug, honey. England is a nation of soccer fans. Me and all my boys were fully kitted out in our England shirts, and everything...*sniff* :-(

This is shaping up to be one crazy World Cup. All but one of my teams got booted in or prior to the Round of 16. I lost Italy in the Group stages, USA, England and now Mexico are all gone. All I have left is POrtugal, someone needs to kick Brazil's butt and I got no one left.

I really hope this doesn't end up with Argentina/Brazil finale or Germany/Brazil.

To be honest, with the way Germany decimated England, they certainly seem to be in form to make it to the finals. Doesn't mean I want to see them there, though... :-(
