She is gone...

I woke up yesterday morning to the news that my granny's sister finally passed away. Before people give me sympathy comments... stop. Some of you may know this but I will reiterate. I didn't like that woman. She was an awful person, even my Granny knows that her sister did a lot of despicable things in her life. So just save it. I'm glad she's gone, and my Granny is glad her sister isn't in pain any longer

It hasn't had any significant impact on my life at all. But it does make me wonder about how I'll cope when my family does eventually die. I'll be sad. Of course. But you eventually have to move on. I also just don't know what to say to my Granny. I gave her hugs but in the end.... nothing can be said or done. You just live on and deal with your own shit.

So the funeral is next Wednesday. Thank goodness that I have Uni and so don't have to attend. Poor Mark though, he'll have to drive my Granny to the graveyard... wherever that may be.

Otherwise I'm good. Procrastinating as usual by drawing un-uni related art. I've also discovered the band Starsailor. How to describe them... soft rock and a bit of pop. They have a pretty mellow vibe. One of their songs 'Way to Fall' is the end song for MGS3. I love that song but it took me about half a year to actually realise that that song was sung by an American band and that I could get more of their songs, ahah! Silly me.

So I've been listening to their albums none-stop pretty much. You can check out their Last.fm page here. The lead singer can sound a bit whiney in some songs and most of their songs don't have very many lyrics. They are simple and kind of poetic, with a lot of music in between stanzas. The choruses are catchy and the melody is too. It all makes for a nice blend.

Starsailor - Some Of Us.mp3

Heard you today, that isn't my name, you were fast asleep,
Forget what he did, can I be the kid for your soul to keep.
Some of us laugh, some of us cry,
Some of us smoke, some of us lie,
But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives.

I've grown to see the philosophy of my own mistrust,
We all have our faults, mine come in waves that you turn to rust,
Some of us laugh, some of us cry,
Some of us smoke, some of us lie,
But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives.

I've been hanging onto something,
You keep laughing awe-inspiring.

Some of us laugh, some of us cry,
Some of us smoke, some of us lie,
But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives.
Some of us laugh, some of us cry,
Some of us smoke, some of us lie,
But it's all just the way that we cope with our lives.

My wandering soul found solace at last,
I wanted to know how long it would last.
She's losing control, she's coming down fast,
The heart that I stole, I'm not giving back, never giving back.

And here's something I've been arting on. Someone is commissioning me to draw them a picture of a faerie with butterfly wings. I said I'd take the commission on once I'm done with Uni so I have no clue if this is something they'd be interested in actually accepting as their commissioned work but hey. I'm having fun and I love to procrastinate. Right now it's still a work in progress. Wings are such a pain in the creative behind.
