Socks, silver and a poll of ultimate pointlessness

Why is it so hard to find packs of all black socks for women? It's either all white, or some random assortment of black, navy blue, tan, light blue and argyle(!) as the darker option. I want a six sock pack of only black socks! Has anyone else ever had to resort to buying boys' socks as the only option for getting reasonably priced black socks you ( Read more... )

I buy men's socks almost exclusively. I find they fit better, too. I actually have small feet for my height (5'9" tall, size 8.5 or 9 shoe), and I still find women's socks are often too short.

What size socks work for you? I wear 7.5 size shoes usually. It just annoys me so much that I can't buy something as simple as sturdy black socks easily.

I wear a 10 to 11 in womens boots, and tend to wear a 8 to 8.5 in mens (or large women's socks, and medium men's. (You think black socks is hard, try finding good women's work boots).

I'm not sure what size. I just buy the men's ones, I guess. They'd probably be too big for you, based on your shoe size. They're a little big too big for me, but I find that after I've washed them a few times, they fit fine. The size difference would be more noticeable for you, though.

I think because I don't have big feet stretching them out, they sort of conform to my foot size or something, because I used to date a guy who wore the same socks in the same size, and we could always tell which ones were his, as they were bigger. Stretched out by his big ol' feet, methinks.

That human milk in ice cream thing is from The Onion, yes? I mean, where would they even get so much milk from humans, and if there was indeed a surplus of human milk shouldn't that be used for human babies so that they don't need crappy formula tainted with chemical waste?

I understand the impulse to not be cruel to cows, but then you should just switch to soy ice cream. Or stick with fruit sorbets. I unfortunately dislike the taste of soy milk in coffee, but it is okay in ice cream. I actually liked my favorite soy ice cream (now sadly a discontinued brand :( ) better than the dairy ones.

Also, I occasionally read crossovers even if I only know one of the sources.

That was my first thought too and I was hoping that would be the case. I don't even know what the hell goes on in their minds sometimes.

Yeah, I like soy ice cream a lot, and agreed, if you want to not be cruel to cows, soy is a good alternative. WTH human breast milk!

I find multi-packs of womens black socks at Target.

What I hate about multi-packs of socks is that whenever I see packs of the little low-on-the-ankle socks, there's one in a cute pattern, one in a bright color, and one white. I don't want any white ones! *flails*

I just buy men's socks. Works pretty well for inside work boots.

It's a difference of 1.5 or 2, right? I think I'll do just that. My boots are not exactly superhardy work boots, but they're definitely sturdy enough to need a comfortable pair of socks inside.

I buy mens socks if I need black socks. Mostly. Or shop somewhere other than ridiculous dept stores. Which means I end up paying stupid amounts if I don't buy the mens ones.

Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus. I guess the only thing I fear is paying for a pack of socks that are the wrong size for me. I guess counting in a difference of 2 in shoe size should take care of that. Yeah, anywhere other than department stores is way too expensive for socks :(
