Title : Soulless
Characters : Myungsoo x Sungjong
Chapters : 2/2 (End)

*****

Staying in the club for a while, Myungsoo tried a few times calling Sungjong but he couldn’t. His calls will be directed to voice mail. Having a bad feeling, Myungsoo excused himself and went home. Just before he could open the door, he found it had already opened. He wondered why the door was opened. Maybe Sungjong went somewhere. But usually he would inform Myungsoo if he was going anywhere.

Myungsoo walked inside the apartment and it was true Sungjong was not there. Then, he glimpsed on something on the couch. It was Sungjong’s phone. Sungjong never go around without his phone. Myungsoo was dumbfounded about the situation.

Something shocked Myungsoo when he caught sight on a note on the coffee table.

‘Goodbye.’

One that one word was on the note. Myungsoo felt his heart just skipped a beat. His eyes were widened than usual. He didn’t know what to think. This was too much for him. After all he did for Sungjong, this how he repay him. By leaving him, alone when he already fallen for him.

A tear managed to escape his eyes as his heart hurt so much. Myungsoo was a fool for believing that Sungjong loves him too. He really thought this love will never end. But he was wrong. It already ended just before he could realize.

*****

It had been a few days since Sungjong left the apartment and Myungsoo was having some drinks in the club. Dongwoo tried to stop Myungsoo from drinking so much but he failed. Sunggyu and Woohyun came to comfort him but also failed. Sungyeol just watched him from a distance didn’t want anything bad to happen.

Myungsoo had already lost his soul. His purpose for life was vanished in thin air. And no one could stop him for making his life miserable. Hoya in the other hand was thinking about something. Only he thought that the situation was weird. Because he believed in Sungjong. He knew how Sungjong loved Myungsoo so it would be impossible for him to leave Myungsoo.

‘I really don’t understand how could Sungjong do this?’ Sunggyu never thought Sungjong would have a heart to do something like that.

‘He’s being too harsh.’ Woohyun could only sigh looking at Myungsoo, who was drunk.

‘Maybe he has his own reason to do that.’ Sungyeol suddenly said. ’Just forget about him.’ That was the best solution and the others agreed on that except for someone.

‘Something must be wrong.’ Hoya abruptly said.

He turned his sight at Myungsoo as he said,

‘Sungjong loves you and I know you’re aware that too.’

Myungsoo didn’t know what to think. He was sick of it. He was hurt. Day by day, Sungjong left him, making him soulless.

*****

Sungjong regained his consciousness. He was startled to see himself being tied on a chair. His head hurt and he didn’t remember a thing. The last thing he recalled was he was on phone with Myungsoo and then he felt something hard hit his head and he fainted.

His feet and hands were also being tied. What kind of mess was he in this time. He tried to struggle in order to escape but his efforts were futile. His eyes roamed the place he was in. He was in a small room, which was dark, only the lights from a small window shone the place. He could barely see in that situation.

But then, he heard someone walked into the room. Sungjong kept his eyes small to just see the face of the man. But his eyes failed him; he only knew the guy was wearing a black suit. Then, he sniffed the smell of cigarette being burned.

‘Who are you? What do want from me?’ Sungjong asked him, still struggling.

Although Sungjong couldn’t see it clearly, he was sure the guy was smirking at him. The guy didn’t say a word. Instead he walked close to Sungjong. When he stepped on the light, Sungjong saw his face. His eyes widened because he swore he saw his face before.

The smirk on the guy’s visage kept on hanging when he was standing in front of Sungjong. He put his hand on Sungjong’s chin as his eyes stared at Sungjong’s face. Sungjong didn’t know how to act, or more like he wasn’t able to move. Somehow his body trembled when the guy touched his face.

Abruptly, the smirk on his face disappeared and he slapped Sungjong’s face hard. It was painful.

‘I never thought you dare to run away from me.’

His words startled Sungjong. He didn’t remember meeting or knowing him. But he was sure this guy had something to do with his past. Now, he wondered how bad his past was. As he was still in pain, he put his life on the line to ask,

‘Who are you?’

‘What? Are you trying to act stupid now?’ The guy asked him back.

Sungjong tried to remember but only pain greeted his head. He bit his lips as he felt the pain in his head.

‘I…I can’t remember…’

The guy could only sigh looking at the situation. He suddenly grabbed Sungjong’s hair hard before saying,

‘I don’t care if you don’t remember a thing but listen here. I bought you so anything I told you to do, just do it.’

He let go of his hair, moving his feet to the door, leaving Sungjong dumbfounded. Sungjong didn’t understand what he said. What did he meant that he bought him?

‘What do you mean?’

Sungjong’s words halted the guy from going out the room. He turned around just to face Sungjong again. He shouldn’t let Sungjong be all confuse so he just spoke the truth.

‘You don’t need to remember the fact I bought you to work in my club, serving every single customers whenever they want pleasure.’

His answer shocked the hell out of Sungjong. He was tongue-tied. He didn’t want to believe it. He didn’t want to know it. He just wanted to pretend like he didn’t even hear those words. How can he suppose be something like that? Since when he worked as a prostitute?

The guy smirked seeing Sungjong’s reaction. He then called a few boys wearing black suit, and ordered,

‘Teach him a lesson until he’ll regret for trying to run for me.’

They took the order and untied Sungjong. The moment they untied him, they beat him up. Sungjong felt pain was greeting his skin. He couldn’t even move or protect himself as his face hit the cold floor. He didn’t mind getting his face dirty, because he was already dirty himself.

He wondered how will L’s reaction if he found out about his real past. Or more likely Sungjong will never get a chance to see L any longer. It was best like this.

Myungsoo…he will be fine without him. Sungjong only thought that. He only wanted Myungsoo to be happy.

Not even a second, he stopped thinking about Myungsoo although he was in pain. But what could he do? The men kept on stomping his stomach, making him groaned in pain. They kicked him on the floor as if he was an empty can. But they didn’t hurt his face for some reason.

The guy, or more to be called, Minhwan by the others, was enjoying Sungjong’s cries. He lifted his left hand as a sign for the men to stop and they did. Sungjong was on the floor; his body was trembling in pain. He couldn’t move. It was like his whole body was paralyzed-numb.

Minhwan perched in front of Sungjong. With a smirk, he said,

‘You meet a nice friend you know.’ He laughed a bit. ‘So nice until he gave me your position to me.’

Sungjong was perplexed to hear that. He wanted to ask who told him that, but it was best if he didn’t know. He didn’t want hating someone. Or more like he didn’t want to think the possibility of Myungsoo was that someone. It wasn’t important anymore because he knew he couldn’t escape from this hell.

He will be trapped in this place. His feeling for Myungsoo will be locked by himself. He’ll throw it away. He will forget about Myungsoo because he didn’t deserve him although it will make him soulless.

*****

Two weeks had passed after Sungjong left Myungsoo. Myungsoo hardly could breathe. He spent his time in the club at night, drinking until he was drunk and at morning he will stayed at home, lying on the bed. He didn’t give a damn to go to college.

That day, someone was pushing his door bell and kept on banging at his door like crazy. Myungsoo who was already sober opened his door as he was pissed off. It was Hoya.

‘What is it?’ Myungsoo asked.

‘Please find Sungjong.’ Hoya’s words only made Myungsoo angry.

Myungsoo didn’t answer but he went into the living room, slumping down on the couch. Hoya tailed Myungsoo. He was trying to help Myungsoo shook of the bad thought about Sungjong.

‘I’m sure it’s only a misunderstanding between the two of you. Go find him and make this all clear.’

How much Myungsoo hate it, Hoya was telling the truth. This time Myungsoo jumped into an early conclusion. He should at least find Sungjong and hear his explanation. Myungsoo sighed as he finally agreed.

‘I’ll find him.’

But then a voice shocked them,

‘You won’t’

‘Sungyeol ah…’ Hoya was startled to see Sungyeol was at Myungsoo’s door.

‘What do you mean?’ Myungsoo frowned.

‘I sent him back to where he came from.’ His words again shocked them.

‘What?’

‘There was someone who was searching for him one night in the club. So I gave him your address.’

‘Why didn’t you tell us?!’ Myungsoo was mad at him.

He never thought his own best friend would stab him behind his back.

‘I was jealous okay. I wanted us to be together again.’ Sungyeol had to admit he wanted Myungsoo back to him.

‘But you know it’s over between us. I never love you.’ Myungsoo wanted to make everything clear between him and Sungyeol.

‘I know that. Mianhe I didn’t realize how much you love Sungjong. That’s why I’m telling you now.’

Hoya didn’t want to ruin the situation that they were trying to make themselves clear but he just interrupted them by asking,

‘Do you know who the guy that took Sungjong was?’

‘If I’m not mistaken, he mentioned his name was Minhwan and he said Sungjong was working for him for a while.’ Sungyeol said everything that he knew.

‘Minhwan?’ Hoya seemed a bit shock.

‘Do you know him, hyung?’ Myungsoo asked seeing Hoya was frozen.

‘Call Dongwoo hyung. I think Sungjong is in trouble now.’ Hoya’s voice was trembling and worried was all over his face.

*****

Sungjong was in no condition of standing or moving a finger. He was on the floor with bruises on his body. For two weeks, he had been beaten. He refused to work for him again. And because of that he was receiving the consequences.

He swore he rather die than letting anyone touch him any more. Only L could touch him. He didn’t mind receiving the pain all over his body. Through out all the pain he had felt, he learned something. His heart was empty. He was sick shouting for helps when no one saved him. He was tired of hoping for L could come and get him because Sungjong knew he wont.

It was hard for him to keep his consciousness after being beaten. It had been a few days since the last time he was given food. He was starving and his body was in pain. He could only wish to die now than suffering like this.

He closed his eyes slowly. Tears managed to stain his cheeks when he recalled back Myungsoo’s smile. He wanted to just die. He smiled when he thought of hearing Myungsoo’s voice shouting for his name.

*****

He opened his eyes, just to see a different view. Sungjong realized he was in the hospital. Was he saved now? Or it was just a dream.

‘Sungjong, you’re awake?’ That familiar voice made Sungjong’s eyes to shift to his left.

Yeah, he was saved by. He was crying. Sungjong didn’t say a word.

‘Mianhe. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.’ Myungsoo couldn’t stop apologizing to Sungjong.

How could he blame Sungjong all this time while Sungjong was dying?

Sungjong didn’t utter a sound. He didn’t smile or cry. He just averted his eyes away from Myungsoo. As if he didn’t want Myungsoo to be with him. And Myungsoo saw it.

‘Let him rest for a while.’ Hoya, who was standing behind L said.

Myungsoo agreed with Hoya’s words and went outside the ward with him.

‘How is he?’ Sunggyu was waiting outside with the others.

Myungsoo just shook his head, telling them he wasn’t doing so good.

‘Give him time. He’ll recover soon.’ Dongwoo only could say that.

‘Then how should we deal with this?’ Woohyun asked.

Sungyeol, who was standing beside Woohyun didn’t dare to say a word because he was the one who made Sungjong suffered like that.

‘I’ll buy Sungjong from him. I don’t care if I have to pay double or triple the price.’ Myungsoo wanted to end Sungjong’s suffering.

‘Can you do that?’ Sunggyu asked.

‘He can.’ Hoya looked down. ‘Because that’s how Dongwoo bought me from Minhwan too.’

The other was shocked to hear that. The truth was Dongwoo saved Hoya from that Minhwan by buying him with triple the price. But that wasn’t the problem. The problem was Sungjong. He was beaten badly. Hoya wondered if he could survive after being treated so bad like that.

*****

A week after that, Sungjong was already been discharged. He stayed at Myungsoo’s apartment as he had no where to go. Still he was in no condition to go to college, so he just stayed home. But Myungsoo never left Sungjong alone. When he went to college, he will ask his neighbour to take care of Sungjong.

But since that day, Sungjong didn’t say a word at Myungsoo or the others. He stayed quiet. His smile on his visage was vanished. As if he had no soul anymore. Myungsoo didn’t question Sungjong about his act. Although he knew Sungjong will never say a word to him, he will still talk to him. Even though, Sungjong will nod or shook his head if Myungsoo asked him question, Myungsoo didn’t want to give up on him.

Looking at Sungjong’s condition with his body still wrapped with the bandages and hands covered with bruises, hurt him so much.

Sungyeol came by one day, saying he wanted to talk to Sungjong. Myungsoo let them talked, leaving them at the living room while he went into the kitchen, making some tea for both of them.

‘Mianhe Sungjong. I never thought he will be a bad guy.’ Sungyeol apologized to Sungjong.

This time Sungjong blurted out some words,

‘So you’re the one who told him?’

Sungyeol just looked down the moment Sungjong asked that. Knowing the answer already Sungjong only rolled his eyes.

‘I’m really sorry Sungjong ah. I’ll do anything to make this up. Please Sungjongie.’ He begged for forgiveness.

‘Anything?’ Sungjong smiled bitterly. ‘Then, can you give me my life back?’

Sungyeol was perplexed to hear he said that,

‘Thanks a lot for bringing me back to hell again.’ Sungjong wasn’t mad at Sungyeol actually. He was mad at himself.

*****

Sungjong was never smiling after the incident. He rather to be alone than being with the others. L still didn’t let him go to college yet. Sometimes L will skip a few days at college to just stay beside Sungjong. But the latter didn’t even bother to notice L. Whether L was there with or not, it was still the same for him.

He already lost his soul. He lost his desire to live. And his feeling for L was gone. But Myungsoo didn’t want to believe in that. He was sure Sungjong still love him.

Sungjong was in the room, trying to put on the bandage on his body after a shower. But he was having a hard time to do it. Myungsoo who was entering the room, noticed it and decided to help Sungjong whether he wanted to or not.

‘Let me do it.’ He grabbed the bandage from Sungjong’s hand.

Sungjong didn’t want to argue so he just let him. Myungsoo stood behind Sungjong, putting on the bandage on his body. Sungjong was badly beaten until he broke few of his ribs and the bruises on his body will took him about a month until they disappeared.

‘Try not to move so much.’ Myungsoo said, not wanting Sungjong to hurt so much.

But no matter how hard Myungsoo was trying to lessen the pain, it still painful for Sungjong, putting on the bandage. He just bit his lips as Myungsoo wrapped the bandage.

The moment he finished, Sungjong just uttered,

‘Thank you.’

He took his shirt on the bed and put it on. This time Myungsoo wanted to ask him the question that he was holding back.

‘How long are you going to act like this?’  He knew Sungjong had a hard time but it had been weeks since that incident and he missed the old Sungjong.

Sungjong didn’t say a word. Instead he walked out into the kitchen, looking for something to eat. Myungsoo sighed towards Sungjong’s act. He wondered how long will it takes for him to recover fully. There was no doubt that it was his fault, for not search for Sungjong sooner. If only he had thought that maybe Sungjong left him unwillingly, Sungjong won’t suffer like this.

But the main problem now, Sungjong was pushing Myungsoo away. And it hurt Myungsoo. All he could do to help Sungjong was to give him his love but what can he do, when Sungjong kept a distance between them.

Myungsoo walked out the room after that, still wanting to make everything clear with Sungjong. If words were not going to help them, then only actions will get them together again. L didn’t hesitate to grab Sungjong, who was in the kitchen, by his hand and pulled him for a kiss.

Sungjong was shocked when he realized their lips were attached. But he couldn’t force himself from breaking the kiss. He missed L so much, until he had no choice but to just accept the kiss. He closed his eyes as L pulled him closer just to deepen the kiss. It was sweet for some reason.

As L broke the kiss slowly, he realized something was in his mouth.

‘Did you eat candy just now?’

‘Yes…’ Sungjong said with his cheeks tingled red.

Sungjong didn’t know his heart could beat so fast just like the last time L kissed him. Maybe it’s true. That he wasn’t soulless. He still had the feeling towards L.

Myungsoo suddenly laughed and said,

‘No wonder it’s so sweet.’

So, the kiss had become their first candy kiss. Sungjong just smiled as he couldn’t hide the blushing face. Myungsoo was glad because he could see that smile on his face again.

Slowly, Myungsoo caressed Sungjong’s cheek.

‘I know I’m made you suffer but I can’t stop loving you. You can blame me all you want but please, I love you.’ Sungjong’s eyes widened to hear Myungsoo’s confession.

Without a doubt, he answered,

‘I love you too. I really do.’

Myungsoo didn’t mind if he received an answer from Sungjong or not because he believed that Sungjong loved him. Myungsoo smiled naughtly while saying,

‘Then…should I return the candy already?’

‘You should.’ Sungjong smiled before Myungsoo kissed him again.
