italian wordplay

the root for the italian word for "to enjoy" is "god".

nice, eh? so yeah, take a moment to enjoy that...prenda un momento a godere quello...

so i got myself all excited while conjugating this verb last night- b/c i thought for a moment that the
2nd person plural form of the passato remoto tense
was "godammo". but it's not. b/c that would be TOO funny.

it's "godemmo".
& actually the 'e' is pronounced like 'a' in 'day'.

(go as in golf) go-DAYM-mo... we enjoyed*

so there- that's a little gift, un piccolo regalo, to brighten your day.
da me, a tutti.

*at a distant time in the past, unconnected w/ the present

UPDATE: COOLEST THING EVAR!
go to this website & paste the paragraph below into the box. then select a voice from the drop down menu- be sure to select AN ITALIAN voice. my favorite is marcello. he's sexy. then click on 'play' & marcello (or some other italian hottie of either gender) will read it to you! isn't that freakin' fabulous!

Ora, il mio gatto sta dormendo a fianco di me. Lui è diabetico. L'ho scoperto due mese fa, quando era molto debole e precario. Le cose stanno così- due volte a giorno si devo fare un'iniezione dell'insulina. Anche è a dieta- il caro cibo solamente! Ma adesso, è forte e felice, un bel gattone magnifico! Qualche volte penso di prova a insegnarmi come pronunciare le 'R' come gl'italiani. Siede sul libro mio e dice "purrrrrrrr..."

& if you're curious as to what that says, here's the english version:
"Right now, my cat is sleeping next to me. He is
diabetic. I discovered it 2 months ago, when he was
very weak and sick. As it stands now, twice a day I
have to give him an injection of insulin. Also, he's
on a diet- expensive food only! But now, he is strong
and happy, a magnificent, beautiful big cat! Sometimes
I think he tries to teach me how to pronounce the 'R'
like the italians. He sits in my book and says
"purrrrrrr..."

p.s. randellwolff it has spanish too!

italiano, random, linkage
