to the zoo!!!
i went to the zoo today. cazzicles made me do it. *g* & 'twas was a beautiful day to be at the zoo- a lovely & wholly unJanuary-like 73oF (24oC).
in the snake exhibit. i was standing next to a rather large & powerfully built man while taking this photo. his son came up behind him & touched his shoulder & he nearly jumped out of his skin. the wife & i exchanged giggles. good times.
on one side of the saluda river is the zoo, on the other side, the botanical gardens. taken from the pedestrian/tram bridge that links the two.

i apologize for the blurriness, but i believe this is the elusive Beatlesqueus toupee, a shy animal known for its camouflaging abilities. they have been hunted to near extinction in the wild, as their coats are believed to be a cure for baldness, & are highly prized.
again w/ teh blurry, but the monkeys are behind glass, & the flash is not allowed. but i had to show you this... just for the awwww factor.

a particularly striking photo, if i do say so myself.
we found this to be quite funny. unfortunately the front end of the zebra was not available for viewing. see montage below.
the next photos are presented together as a series, to make a statement. i noticed a general air of quiet aloofness at the zoo-- most of the animals seemed to be purposefully ignoring the humans. as always, i found humor in the situation, & so i present, for your perusal, a montage:
