櫻井翔 WINK UP June 2009

As commemoration of their 10-year-anniversary, we build series with each of arashi members as the front cover. Sakurai Sho is appearing as the second in this edition. Leaving the theme to their own preferences, Sakurai fixes upon “I want to have photoshoot with kids” and the motive is very much of him.

I’m inspired by an old arashi poster taken at a lawn and featuring some kids. I love it so much so it’s sort of coming to mind, and also because of the origin of my on-going drama that is “ally of nice kids”. That’s why this time, I would like to have pictures with kids. With them, it’s not pictures with many arranged poses, I guess. Besides, in March and April I got to do a lot of photoshoots for “Yatterman” as well so I’d been wondering different way I could do next, so I decide to do it casually.

Doing the front cover with kids also reminds me of the thoughts I had during that age in which I probably never dreamed about doing this work in the future. Even when I entered the company and ten years after my debut at 17, I never thought it would be like this at age of 27. During the 10 years, our fans that probably got married when we first debuted, they might children now, and for those elementary students, they might be university students now. So with this “respective 10 years” I would like to sense “the way I see it” or “the way our fans see it” of these 10 years.

What about things you gain from this 10-year?

Of course, I have received many… but if we’re talking about happiness, sometimes it puzzles me with the saying “I’m glad being Arashi” particularly, ten years ago during arashi’s early years when we7re just considering ourselves as 5 different parts in a group. But as we have passed the 10 years, we’ve come to realization of it. That’s why we feel overjoyed now. isn’t it something we need to be grateful that we’re able to continue for ten years? Nothing is more extravagance than that, I guess. I can’t ask for more if we can share this happiness to people around us especially those supporting us.  As we believe there must be something beyond our ten years, we also can’t wait for it. In 2009, it might be a bit different but I remember last year in 2008 when we’re entering our 10-year-anniversary and it’s obvious that we would be expecting September 3rd so much. But now, can’t help myself to expect September 3rd in 2009 even more since it means we’re entering our eleventh year. It feels like we’re starting a ne thing.  I really wonder how our another decade will be.
