So I finished Gavriella's dress from hell tonight (and of course I haven't a picture of it yet). It's short sleeved, pink (of course, she's 4) with a floral contrasting material. It's pretty and dressy, she loves it. But so yeah, dress from hell. And you know those Simplicity patterns? Not so simple after all. They could do with some clearer explanations frankly. Anyway, I have learned a lot from making it, so that's good, but was it a bitch!!!!! I ended up futzing up one of the sleeves, hope no one notices. I also made it so long it went to O'Bryen's ankles (she wears a 7/8, Gavriella wears a 4/5). So this eveing I finally put on the sleeves, sewed the buttons, and trimmed and resewed the bottom. But since I used a pencil to make my markings, I need to rewash it. I made it a size 5 instead of a 4 deliberately so she could wear it next year as well. She wants me to make a purse for it also, but that has to wait until the diaper bag I am making is finished. I also blocked Pete's scarf so I could add the fringe and actually mail it to him. That'll be done by the end of the week I'm sure. I've also made 2 hats, making 2 more, and a friend let me borrow her spindle so I could learn how to spin my own yarn. So while I'm sitting in the hospital bored to tears, I can make yarn! Yay for yarny goodness!
Two more weeks until my due date, but I'm thinking it'll only be about a week. I've been able to eat a lot more because the baby has dropped into my pelvis. Actually I'm eating like a horse, but hey! The heartburn has been almost nonexistent! Loving it! We also have most everything set up. The room is still being overhauled, so that won't be ready for another month or 2. But that's ok actually because it will be in our room during that time anyway. But we still don't have names yet. At least we have first names, but that's about it.
Being that it's the end of my pregnancy, I have the classic build up of sudden energy with the urge to clean everything in my path, commonly called 'nesting'. What a stupid term. Anyway, I have done some things, but mainly I look at my house and want to clean everything I see. Probably will do quite a bit actually, like the nastiness that is the bathroom (not that it's gross, it's just it's the bathroom. Ew.)
Oh yeah Ernesto!! Well I'm glad for once in my life I'm NOT living in VA. We lived there during Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. But damn, Ernesto sure flooded the hell out of Norfolk! Good thing school hadn't started yet (starts tomorrow). It would've been hell getting Chris to and from the base, not to mention it's a low area anyway, so VA Beach would've been flooded too.
The weather has been very cool here, :( . Goodbye summer, I heart you always.
Tomorrow I get to take Chris to work super early, then to UNO to return my books, then take the kids to school and run my errands. Oh boy! And it's 1130 and I'm not in bed. Maybe I should take a hint .....
Laila tov chaverim sheli! Until tomorrow .....
