Our last day (Thursday) started off late. We just lazed around in bed. No one could get up so we thought “eh we have muffins for breakfast” threw our alarm clocks against the wall, and fell back asleep. Then, even after we woke up, we sat in bed, being cold and lazy for while, probably watching tv and talking. Eventually we got our butts up, put on some swimsuits, slathered on sunscreen, and went out to enjoy the nicest weather of our vacation. It was almost 80º and bright and sunny. Gorgeous. Poor Katie was stuck in the room working L but Holly Darcy and I strutted down to the beach. We found a nice spot right in front of the water, and laid down our towels. I turned around for two seconds and suddenly the two of them were taking off towards the Ocean. I was like “WHAT!? Are we seriously going in? it’s freezing!!” But then I got in :-p The water felt better the longer we stayed in there, Nice waves, really calm day, every so often though we got slammed unexpectedly by some pretty big waves (relatively big, not nearly surf worthy). We sun dried for a while, the sunlight felt really good, I always forget how little sun we get in the Midwest. And of course, our pale selves were hoping to get a little color while we were there. I mean, I don’t get tan, I get less pale. But hey, one can dream right? Eventually we decided we’d done enough basking in the sun and wandered back up to the room to keep Katie company.
I was greeted by Katie exclaiming, “Oh Lillian you’re so pink!” I was like “what? I wasn’t pink at the beach….” But sure enough I looked in the mirror and had some REALLY weird burnlines. I have no idea how I managed to get a splotchy blotchy sunburn but…. Yeah, really inconsistent. It’s like, the right side of my neck, the left side of my chest, the top of my arms, my outer thighs and outer calves, and like, the top left of my stomach and right around my belly button…. It’s really odd. And even the places I’m burned is like… it looks airbrushed. Just a very odd burn. Hurts a bit though, but I’m tough.
Anyway enough about that. We took it easy in the room for a bit, but we wanted to get Katie out in the sun at least a little bit, so we put on cute sun dresses and walked to the boardwalk to get ice cream. We took our cones to the peer and hung our feet over, took some more silly pictures, and decided it was shower time. So, back to the room we went again, showered, put on more cute clothes, and went to Flounder’s for dinner.
Flounder’s is one of the locally famous restaurants, and let me tell you, it was AWESOME. The seating area was absolutely enormous. It was like, there was an “indoor area” but there weren’t any walls, and then there was outdoor seating, and also outdoor seating in like, this big pavilion. Beyond the pavilion was a private section of the beach enclosed just for the restaurant, with a volley ball net and a peer. It was amazing. As it turns out, the “indoor” area has big garage doors that come down to make it actually inside inside. It was just… like it’s hard to explain, you’ll all just have to go sometime. It was WAY cool though. And of course the seafood there was AMAZING. I got a flounder fish sammich, mmmmmmm yummy. And sweet tea, real southern sweet tea too, which made me happy. So that was a delicious dinner. After we were stuffed full of fish, we sauntered back to the room, and watched the prestige. I hate that movie, don’t even get me started. Anyway when it was over we all went to sleep, which brings us to today!
We all got up and moving around nine, got breakfast at the hotel, and came up to start packing. We were all moved out by 11 (which was check out time) and drove out to get smoothies. I got a tasty drink called a mangosteen madness with soy protein, vitamins, and ginko/ginsing energy. It’s like, my favorite meal. J from there we got on the road, took a quick detour into McDonald’s so Katie could email in her work and we could eat a bit, and now we’re back on the road! I suspect Holly and I will be driving the latest shifts, because the other two girls don’t want to drive at night. It’s understandable, and I don’t mind, so I might end up driving the last stretch, which should get us back to Indianapolis by around midnight. Which isn’t bad really. I mean, by the time I actually get this posted it’ll probably be way later because I’m writing it on Microsoft Word now as we drive… but… next time I get internet I’ll put this up. Ok? Ok. More to come soon.
