I wasn't sure how many saw this posted on the Yahoo groups, but someone sent the link and text to me, and I had to made sure the word got out. This is fantastic. And I love it that it (hopefully) came from someone that isn't a fan. *g* Just someone who recognizes what sounds to be a very good flick. So in the midst of my excitement over 300 (and ( Read more... )

I've never been the biggest Western movie fan in the world, but this is one I will definitely see. (You know...I haven't seen a Western at the movies since Unforgiven. *bg*

Bizarrely enough, I think that's the last Western I saw in the theaters, too!

LOL Now that's weird on our part, isn't it? Oh well.

I didn't see TQ&TD until it was on TV...and the only reason why I saw what little I did was because Leonardo DiCaprio had just come off Titanic, so of course they were playing up his name, along with Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman. I barely remember that guy who played Cort! LOL It wasn't until a few months after Gladiator that I was channel surfing, TQ&TD was on, and I kept sitting there going Wait! Is that...No it can't...OMG! It is him! No wait that's not...OMG! IT IS!!!

I think TQ&TD was perhaps the first Russell flick I saw--because my housemate spazzkat was a Sam Raimi fan and he owned a copy. I remember ogling Russell and thinking at the time, "Gosh, he's cute..."

Then I saw Gladiator, went gaga, and only after I went back and watched TQ&TD again did I realize it was the same guy! ;)

Your experience sounded a lot like mine!

I'd seen Russell in LAC about a month before it was nominated for an Oscar, and then caught a glimpse of him in Louisville when he was making The Insider, but no, it was Gladiator that put me over the top *sigh*

Ten minutes in and I was all "mmm, that voice! Mmm, those shoulders!" In fact, it was my first viewing of Gladiator that made me think I'd found a contender for Harrison Ford in my affections. ;)

LOL And lovely shoulders, they are, aren't they? *sigh* And you WERE like me. I was a Ford fan...and then I saw Gladiator...and now it's "I'm sorry...Ford...who??" LOL

It's not that I totally dislike him now, but I can't remember the last movie he did that I really, really liked...unless it was the re-release of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. *g* Oh well...

Well, even aside from Russell, Harry had the added problem of getting old. When I started looking at him in movies and realizing that why yes he is old enough to be my father and starting to look like it, that kind of took the shine off his appeal. ;)

Also, he hasn't been in a really decent movie since what, Air Force One? I never saw K19: The Widowmaker or Firewall, but last I heard they weren't all that good. What Lies Beneath started off well but the ending sucked.

And guh, I fear Indy 4. I fear it greatly. I will probably be hiding behind my copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark (which STILL remains my all time favorite movie) going LALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Oh Lord...when you're right, you're right. He did get the problem of starting to look old enough to be my father (and I probably just insulted my father LOL). I know that on one web-blog, the running joke was whether Cate Blanchett was playing his daughter in Indy 4, or actually his love interest. (I think it's the latter, but God knows the former would be more realistic).

I'd forgotten Air Force One and you're right -- that was probably his last decent film. I saw K19 and am sorry I did; his Russian accent such as it was came and went and came and went again. Firewall I had hopes for, but when you start pulling for the very over-the-top villain (Stephen Maturin goes BAD LOL) and the little family dog, then the movie's gone way off LOL I saw What Lies Beneath, and I'm with you: I thought it was going to be a very clever Hitchcock salute; it turned into a Hitchcock nightmare...and I don't mean in a good way either LOL ( ... )

Half of me went "ooo" when I heard Cate Blanchett was going to be in this film. I mean, I loves me some Cate Blanchett. But yeah, I'm scared as to whether she'll play his child or his love interest ( ... )

Oh I think Cate Blanchett is one of my favorite actresses (I can't wait to see her as Elizabeth again), but I had these mixed feelings when I saw that she was being cast in Indy 4. Part of me was like "Fantastic -- she may become my most favorite heroine since Marion Ravenwood!" And then it was like I got hit by a ton of bricks. "Hrm...is she his daughter or what?" I'm sure she'll be wonderful no matter what!

I've heard so many rumors off and on of what the plot would be. But the last I had heard, it was being released this year. And the storyline was that Indy's long lost brother (I hate a lot of these long lost relative stories LOL) appeared with a map to the lost civilization of Atlantis....Then there was the King Solomon's Mines plot....Or that Ben Affleck was going to play his son....Who the heck knows? At the rate we're going, an adult Short Round may be back. Maybe the Nazis will join forces with the evil Thugee cult. And is Sean Connery in this one? What about John Rhys-Davies? (I guess as long as Mrs. Spielberg's Willie ( ... )
