Well, I finally started my off days this morning; just woke up...and found
the following in my inbox regarding Barbaro.

I haven't stopped crying since I read this. But I was the same way with
Secretariat and Ruffian too.
Last night on my way into work, I'd heard he'd had more surgery and had
suffered a setback. I was praying that like the others he'd had over these long
months he'd pull out of it again, but reading the article, I know they did the
right thing for him, as heartbreaking as it was. I'll give it to his owners
though. Many of them would have had him euthanized right after the Preakness
and went on their way to the bank to cash the insurance check. But out of love
they stayed with him and stayed beside him, and as someone in the article
said, I want to remember that beautiful Kentucky Derby win and not what
happened at the Preakness. And also wonder what might have been....But what a
fighter!
So Godspeed Barbaro. You'll be missed.
