Chapter XIV

"Yunnie where are we going?!"

"We're almost there! Come on Joongie run faster!"

"Noooo I never ran this long in my entire life! The longest route I've ever ran was from my house to school."

"Jeez I should really make you exercise more. Alright we're here."

The two boys arrived in the garden of roses where Yunho would hang out in everyday. The whole field was filled with red roses. Yunho bent down and picked out the reddest one and put it in Jaejoong's hair.

"Yun, I'm not a girl you know."

"I know. You're even prettier than one."

Jaejoong blushed a deep red, as red as the rose in his hair. He cleared his throat and straightened his back.

"So dear prince, what business do we have here?"

"My dear beautiful Jaejoong, this is not the best part yet. In fact, the place I really wanted to take you to is right along that path. Now follow me."

Yunho put his arm out for Jaejoong to take. Jaejoong did a playful bow and linked his arm with the tall prince. They walked for awhile and finally stopped in front of a leafy wall.

"Is there supposed to be some kind of secret world behind this?"

"Yup. A place I call "Heaven"."

Yunho slid his hand across the wall and it opened. Behind the wall was another field of roses except these roses were of different colors. Jaejoong let go of Yunho's arm and ran towards the flowers, being extra careful not to stomp on any.

"Wow! I didn't know there was such a place in this palace!"

"That's because only I know. I thought it was such a waste to have an empty grass field so..."

"But if you're the only one who knew of this place then where do the roses come from?

"Listen, Kim Jaejoong. What I'm about to tell you right now is a secret you must carry to your grave, ok? Or else everybody would surely look at me differently."

"Tell me! Tell me! I won't tell anyone. I swear!"

Yunho looked suspiciously at Jaejoong. Although the boy was shy, he was quite talkative in front of Yunho and he did not trust one bit that his Joongie would keep his mouth shut. But he couldn't seem to turn away from those pouting lips and huge hopeful eyes looking back at him. He sighed deeply, he knew that he could never resist Jaejoong's aegyo.

"Alright.....I...planted these."

"...Yunnie likes to plant?"

There was a moment of silence then Jaejoong suddenly burst out laughing. He rolled around on the grass and held his stomach.

"Yah! Stop laughing this instant! I knew I shouldn't have told you."

Yunho stuck his tongue out at Jaejoong who was laughing hysterically at his feet. He huffed angrily and began to walk away. Seeing this, Jaejoong immediately attached himself on Yunho's back.

"No no don't go Yunnie. I didn't mean to laugh. I just never thought a tough-looking prince like you would have a hobby like this."

"Well, I don't really LIKE it. I just happen to be good at it."

"Don't be mad Yun-yun. I think it's sweet!"

"Oh? So now you say that."

"It's true! There should be more men like you in this world. And I'm really happy you decided to show me your "Heaven"."

Yunho stopped walking and turned around to face Jaejoong, his arms resting around the boy's waist.

"I didn't bring you here just to show you this place Joongie-ah. I...want to give this place to you."

Jaejoong's eyes widened. He felt tears forming and buried his face in Yunho's chest.

"Yunho, you don't have to do that. I mean this place is special to you."

"And that's why I want to give it to you because you're special too."

Yunho slowly leaned down, his hands holding Jaejoong's face close to his. Their lips softly touched at first, shyly brushing through each other then turned passionate. The young lovers shared their first official kiss in the field of roses.

Junsu pressed a hand against the mirror, looking at his reflection. He looked disastrous with disheveled hair and dirt and tears on his face. That morning the door was unlocked when a maid went to collect the dirty aprons. She saw Junsu asleep on the ground next to the door in a fetal position. Before she could wake him up, he shot up and bolted out the door, his head lowered in embarassment. As soon as Junsu locked the door of his room, he slid down the wall and rested his face against his knees. Fresh tears made its way down his dirty face as he cried silently. He took a quick shower and changed into cleaner clothes then turned back to the mirror.

"Smile Junsu. This happens everyday remember? So why pity yourself now?"

He forced a smile on his face and walked out the door to face a new day. As he walked towards the sink where he's always used, the chefs looked at him with a smug smile on their faces and snickered to themselves. Junsu pretended not to see or hear any of it and avoided eye contact with them. Since Changmin was working in the kitchen today, they couldn't do anything to him.

"Hey Junsu. The King is holding a grand ball again tonight so I have to leave my precious private kitchen and squish with the others here."

Junsu only gave a small smile but did not respond. Changmin looked curiously at the young boy and examined his face. It occurred to him that the smile on Junsu's face today did not seem real at all. He looked around the kitchen suspicously at other chefs, thinking that it might have something to do with them. He knew that Junsu was never close with the chefs here but he also wasn't sure whether they were bullying him since he does not usually cook here.

"Junsu-ah, is there something wrong? You look kind of pale."

"Of course not. Why would there be?"

"Because you seem...different today. Did something happen yesterday?"

"It's nothing important, Changmin. Now let's get back to work before somebody catches us chatting instead of working."

"But-"

"Junsu, can I talk to you for a minute?"

Their conversation was interrupted by Yoochun who was currently standing by the door. The chefs instantly looked at the prince then at Junsu and they scowled in disgust. Changmin gave a gentle push at Junsu, urging him to go.

"It's not the right time, Yoochun."

"It'll only take a minute."

"...fine."

"One, two, three, four five six. Two, two, three, four five six. That's right follow the music. Let it flow through your body."

Jaejoong tried his best at following the music but only managed to continuously step on Yunho's feet or fall on his butt. While the other ladies in the room were able to dance smoothly with their partners, Jaejoong stumbled around.

"Joongie-ah, you have to look at your partner when you dance."

"I can't Yunnie or I'll step on your feet again."

Yunho looked down at his boojae who was concentrating on their feet movements. He rested his hands on Jaejoong's shoulders, stopping him. He then dragged Jaejoong out of the room.

"Prince, where are you going?"

Jaejoong attempted to pull his hand out of Yunho's strong grasp and stared confusedly at him.

"Yunnie what are you doing? The class isn't over yet."

"I'm personally teaching you how to dance."

They walked all the way to their secret garden and stopped at the same spot they shared their kiss that day.

"Finally, it's quiet. The instructor's voice was making my ears bleed."

"A-Are we gonna dance here?"

"Yup. I noticed that you were having a hard time in there and one reason may be that you were distracted by the other young ladies who were doing so well?"

"I...how did you know I was thinking that?"

"I can read you like an open book baby. Now put your hand on my shoulder and your other in mine."

Jaejoong shyly put his hands in position and in reflex, looked down at their feet again.

"Don't look down. Look at me. Focus on nothing but me."

The boy looked deep into Yunho's orbs and his cheeks blushed a deep hue of red.

"Imagine we're in the ball right now. The music's playing. Can you feel it Jaejoong?"

Jaejoong closed his eyes and listened to the sound of the wind. He felt himself moving, being led by Yunho then he realized he was dancing. There was no stumbling, no stepping on feet, no noisy instructor. There was only him and Yunho. Yunho pressed his lips against Jaejoong's hair, his eyes also closed.  They danced among the roses in their own rhythm.

They walked in silence, both of them not speaking. Junsu looked anywhere but Yoochun while Yoochun stared intently at Junsu. Finally, Yoochun stopped and grabbed Junsu's arm to face him.

"I tried to look for you yesterday but you weren't anywhere, not even the kitchen. Where were you?"

"I was...in my room the whole night."

Yoochun looked disappointedly at Junsu. "Oh really, because I checked that place too."

Junsu clenched his fist at his side. He felt frustrated and stressed out from what happened yesterday and his inability to be honest with Yoochun.

"Why are you so nosy?"

"I'm not! I'm just worried about you! If there's something wrong you should tell me."

"It's nothing you should concern yourself with."

"Junsu, I'm only trying to help. Are you hiding something from me?"

"No! So stop asking!"

"What are you getting this angry for?! Is me trying to help something that offended you?"

"Shut up. I don't want to talk to anybody right now."

Junsu began to walk away but Yoochun caught up with him and grabbed his shoulders.

"Did I do something wrong?! If I did then tell me!"

"You didn't! I just don't want you to snoop into my business! I have my own life Park Yoochun."

"Did you know how worried I was yesterday? I kept thinking that something bad might've happened to you! Why don't you understand?"

"Well now you can see that I'm fine. Let go of me, i have to get back to work."

"No we're not done yet."

"Unlike you dear prince, I have a job I have to keep! If I get fired even from washing dishes, I'll be too worthless to do anything else!"

"Would you stop saying that? If you get fired, I'll just tell the King to hire you back."

SLAP!

Yoochun felt the stinging pain on his left cheek and he slowly turned his head to the angry boy with wide eyes. Tears ran freely down Junsu's face as he glared angrily at Yoochun.

"You think you're so great don't you, just because you were born as a prince. Ordering people around, watching the days go by without a care in the world. Well guess what, not everybody is as lucky as you! The world isn't full of sunshine and rainbows as you thought it was. Did you know how hard it was for me to carry on after my parents died?! I had to sleep in the streets and try to find food in the trash cans! And everyday I see you rich people spending money like water while ignoring people like me who try their hardest to survive! When the King offered me a job, I was so happy I could die! Even if I'm just a dishwasher, I feel proud of myself because I can finally have food down my stomach and not have to roam the streets again. But you, you heartless bastard! Dare to flaunt your position and wealth in my face?!"

Junsu yanked his arm out of Yoochun's grasp and started his way back to the kitchen.

"Don't ever come near me again."

~~~~~~*~~~~~~
"Hey you gonna dance?"
Yoochun looked up to see Yunho staring worriedly at him. Yunho sighed and sat next to his friend, his arm around Yoochun's shoulders.
"What's the matter? Usually you'd be in a circle full of women by now. Something bad must've happened."
"It's nothing. Don't worry about me Yunho. Go have fun with Jaejoong. He looks a bit confused over there."
Indeed Jaejoong was in the middle of the crowd and looking around the ballroom in awe. As soon as he noticed Yunho, he waved happily at him.
"Just go Yunho. I'll be fine here."
"Ok but if you want somebody to talk to, you can come find me anytime."
"Yeah...sure..."
Yoochun watched Yunho happily walk towards the equally excited Jaejoong. He couldn't help but feel envious of how those two could get along so well when his relationship with Junsu was crumbling.
"May I have this dance, my sweet Jaejoongie."
"I'd be honoured, my handsome Yunho."
Yoochun pinched the bridge of his nose and thought back on what happened today. He didn't know that Junsu would be that angry. He just thought he would be able to help but the words came out wrongly which led to deeper misunderstandings between them.
'Junsu-ah, why don't you understand my feelings?'
