Chapter XIII
The kitchen was quiet during lunch hours as usual. The only sound heard was the running water from the faucet and soft scrubbing. Junsu was once again left all alone washing piles of dirty dishes. Of course the other workers wouldn't help him since they enjoyed bullying him more. It was not surprising to him though, after all, he's only the dishwasher while the others were great chefs. Junsu would usually sit in the corner while he watched the others prepare a big feast whenever the king held balls. Sometimes he would be very ashamed of himself for only knowing how to wash dishes yet he was grateful for being accepted to work here. He used to live in the countryside with his loving parents. It was during his first year of high school when he came back home to see his house in flames. His parents were trapped inside the house and it was said that they were holding hands waiting for death when they knew they couldn't be saved. Junsu was sent to an orphanage where he stayed as a loner, always hiding in his room. On his 17th birthday, he was sent to work in the castle as a kitchen boy and that's where he met Changmin, the smart-mouthed food-crazed head chef. He didn't mind being laughed at because he wasn't alone now that he's got a friend beside him and a prince chasing after him. Junsu couldn't be more grateful than he is now. He wanted to change and start anew. Unfortunately, he was afraid the chefs here would never be able to accept him.
The double doors opened and the workers walked in, talking in loud voices and fooling around. Junsu kept his head down, diligently scrubbing off every speck of dirt on the plates. He hoped they would treat him as invisible like they always do but his hopes were scattered when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hello Junsu. Hardworking as always,eh?"
When they saw no response from the boy, they walked closer and circled around him.
"I've heard a very funny rumor lately. It's something about you and one of the princes. You also think it's funny right? I mean who would want to be friends with someone like you or even look at you."
Junsu clenched his fist tightly. He didn't want to start a fight, definitely not with them. So he held his anger and took the insults like he usually did.
"Not speaking? Then I guess it must be true. Now that I think about it, it's not so surprising. After all, you always wanted to have another job. I bet you offered him your body."
The man was suddenly tackled to the ground. A punch landed on his face. He looked up and saw a ballistic Junsu whose eyes were glaring holes at him. He smirked.
"You want to fight with me? Fine I'll play this silly game with you. Hold him down boys."
The others immediately held onto Junsu's flailing legs and arms, pinning him to the ground. One of them picked up a bucket filled with soapy water and dumped it on Junsu's head.
"Aw would you look at that. Poor little Junsu's drenched in dirty water. Since you like whoring yourself around, you really need to have a good wash."
The bucket dropped to the ground next to Junsu. They walked out the door one by one, closing the lights. Before completely closing the door, the man peeked out his head.
"Goodnight Junsu. I'm sure you'll be very comfortable sleeping on the tiles."
And the door was closed leaving Junsu in the pitch black kitchen.

"Excuse me. Do you happen to know where Kim Junsu's room is?"
The maid looked up from her work, surprised to see the prince talking to her and she blushed a deep red.
"K-Kim Junsu? You mean the young boy who works in the kitchen?"
"Yes, that's him."
"I believe it's at the other side of the palace where the other workers are."
Yoochun gave a small nod and started to walk towards that direction. He came across a long hallway with doors on both sides. Name plates were on each of the doors. He finally stopped in front of Junsu's door.
Yoochun knocked three times on the wooden door.
"Junsu? Are you in there? It's me, Yoochun. Junsu? Junsu?"
There was no reply. He tried to open the door but it was locked. One of the maids who was walking down the hallway and carrying a big pile of blankets looked curiously at the troubled prince.
"Sir, is there anything I could help you with?"
"Oh..no..I was just...actually do you know whether the chefs are dismissed from work yet?"
"I'm not so sure but I think I saw some of the chefs walking out of the kitchen this afternoon. I believe they've been dismissed earlier today since there aren't any special balls or anything happening."
"Thanks I'll just go and have a look in the kitchen."

The sun had long set since the chefs left the kitchen. Even though only a few hours passed, it felt like a century to Junsu. He tried to push the door open with all his strength but failed miserably many times. He then took a few steps back and ran straight towards the door and gave it a big kick. Still, the door would not open. Feeling tired and hopeless, Junsu slid on the floor hoping that somebody would walk by.
It was really soft but he definitely heard footsteps coming towards him. Junsu immediately shot up and pressed his ear against the door.
"Hmm...where is that guy? Is he still working?"
Junsu's heart thumped wildly against his chest. That deep baritone voice could never be mistaken. He raised a fist and was about to call out to Yoochun but then stopped.
'I can't let Yoochun see me like this, in this..horrible state. I can't let him see..the weak and pathetic side of me...'
Junsu pressed both of this hands gently against the door and listened to Yoochun's voice. Tears slowly slid down his dirty cheeks, dripping onto his lap.
"Aww man even the kitchen's locked. But where can he be?"
Yoochun rested against the door and breathed out a sigh. Unbeknownst to the young prince, Junsu was at the other side. The thick metal doors in between the two lovers.

Yunho peered through the crack of the door and looked around the big room for a certain dark haired boy. Apparently Yunho had once again ditched his classes and decided to spy on his wife-to-be, who was currently holding up chopsticks and attempting to pick up food with it.
"That's right ladies hold up your chopsticks gently. Yes, yes, pick up the food...remember your other hand should be under that piece of..whatever it is to prevent it from falling AND to give everyone a look of elegance. Now direct your right hand forward and imagine your handsome husbands are sitting in front of you. Ok ladies say AHHH towards your hubbies~ "
"Ahhh~~~"
Yunho looked at the room full of women in awe. Here is his beautiful Jaejoong among the group of women being taught how to feed their husbands.
'Is that what they're teaching my baby boo? And i thought i was unlucky...But Joongie sure looks the prettiest out of all of them.'
"Psst! Joongie! I'm here! Look to the left! The left!"
Jaejoong looked around the room in confusion. He swore he could hear Yunho's voice but the prince was nowhere to be seen. Until he looked towards the left and saw Yunho waving madly at him.
"YUN-!" Jaejoong immediately lowered down his voice when the teacher looked sternly at him.
"What are you doing here?!"
"To see you! Come out here, I have something to show you."
"I can't! I'll see you after class!"
"No!! It's really important. You have to see this no-"
"Prince Kim. May I ask why you're so interested at the door?"
Jaejoong thought hard for a reasonable excuse but all he could think of at that moment was...
"Uh..you see sir..I saw a really..big..FLY by the wall over there."
He mentally shot himself for thinking up such a stupid excuse and hoped that the teacher would accept it. He closed his eyes and prepared himself to be scolded.
"My, my, how i hate those disgusting creatures! I ought to kill every single one of them. However, do pay more attention in class. You're not the only one learning these techniques you know."
"Yes sir." And he sighed in relief. Jaejoong waited until everybody else was preoccupied with holding onto their chopsticks then he slowly crawled across the room and out the door.
Yunho lifted the boy on his feet and held his hand, both giggling and running across the hallway.
"This better be good."
