Neglected journal

Nov 17, 2010 09:44

I've sadly had nothing to write about lately... I guess life, in general, has taken over my time and I haven't had anything of importance to write about. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I always feel bad for neglecting my journaling/blogging.

I've taken a little time out from lolita buying... I just haven't really seen anything that I've wanted lately or "had to have". The sales comm doesn't seem to have anything that's OMG WANT worthy these past couple months either. I can only sort through so much used Bodyline and offbrand for so long... So until the exchange rate and shipping situation get better, I think I'll take a hiatus from lolita/Japanese import buying until after Christmas. Or whenever... you know. I still love lolita, but I guess I'm just a little disheartened that there aren't that many new (as in new, unique designs) things being put out. And with the usd to yen exchange rate being so terrible I don't really mind spending my money on other things. And has anyone else noticed shipping rates going up a little too or is that just me?

So since I'm a professed shopaholic, I've renewed my spending efforts into cosmetics lately. I used to be really big into buying makeup during my college years... That's when I bought most of my collection (I sadly report that I can fill up a 10 gallon plastic tub with the amount of make up that I own), but since graduation up until recently my purchases have waned considerable with only an extra edition a few times a year. I wanna say that within the past 6 months that I've gone crazy with buying make up again.

I've gotten into a lot of indie makeup brands lately and I'm really enjoying discovering playing with more bright and bold colors. And on the occasions that require it, I've learned how to tone down color and make it more wearable. My latest thing has been to use one pop of color and then tone it down with neutral browns. You'd be amazed how well it works and it looks good with almost any color combination.

My other renewed cosmetics habit has been to buy nail polishes. I used to be really big about painting my nails in high school, but then I just kinda stopped all throughout college. Then once I graduated college and started working I kind of got into getting acrylics for a couple years, but stopped for the past two or three years since they were so damaging to my nails. I've really amped up my nail polish collection in the past five to six months and I really enjoy doing my nails in all different types of colors. I still love the look of acrylics, but to be honest the cost of getting them done and the damage aren't worth it to me anymore. My latest purchase just came yesterday in the mail and they are from the OPI Burlesque collection (all of the glitter shades). To be honest, I HATE glitter nail polish because it is always such a pain in the ass to get off. However, I always seem to end up buying it over and over again because it looks so pretty on. Can't have it all I guess.

All in all, I'm excited for the holidays... Thanksgiving and Christmas should be a good time and I have to start think about buying presents for everyone because I haven't given it much thought. Better stop buying stuff for myself and get to buying stuff for others. =P
