Well it's been an interesting month. Thought I'd take some time to update what I've been doing since being laid off.
Week One: Spent the week trying to get the work off my computer. Once we got all that, there was a lot of organizing or files, getting things from other coworkers that I didn't have, and figuring out what I wanted my website to look like.
Week Two: I learned how to make a website. Nate helped a lot. Spent the week at other people's apartments and coffeehouses, because I had no internet at my apartment. Pretty much forgot how to eat last week (don't you worry. I remembered.) At the end of the week, I talked to a creative recruiter who's hoping to help me get a job. She said I was marketable because I have varied experience and I'm cheap to employ. Gave me hope.
Week Three: That's this week! I finally have internet here, so I've of course been catching up on my TV and gmail. But as far as work goes, I've been looking at agencies, finally able to look into the leads that people have given me. I'm not sure quite what to do--wait for my recruiter's leads, or go for the ones I have myself which I'm a little unsure about. So for now, I'm writing the emails to my leads, but not sending them, and waiting to see what the recruiter has to say when she calls on Friday.
I've also managed to do some fun stuff here and there. Went to a Robe party, Medieval Times with the family, Elmhurst Barcrawl, a concert...
It's been okay being unemployed so far. I'm really good at not spending money. So no extra stuff until I have a new job. Just a little for booze. Obviously.
So yeah. Still hopeful.
