Well it has been 2 weeks since Derfael was born. What a trip so far. It has seemed like the shortest and longest 2 weeks of my life.
I was having trouble breast feeding him in the first 3 days so he lost almost a pound and now he is almost at his full birth weight again. Breast feeding is the friggin hardest thing I have ever tried to do. I started to express my milk and feed him with a bottle while still trying to get him to breast feed. I have had so much help trying to breast feed but he still doesn't get a good latch. I have had my midwifes help, a public health nurse came over, le leache league, breast feeding clinic. The problem is that he won't let me guide him to the breast and gets very frusterated because he wants to do it himself.
I had his hearing tested yesterday by my midwife and he failed the test. I have to get him re-tested by an audiologist to determine if he can hear or not. My midwife said usually it is just fluid in the ear canal that can cause a baby to fail the test and not to worry so I am hoping that is all that it is.

Well the baby is sleeping right now so I am going to have some breakfast and go back to sleep for a while.
